It's a national office but votes are limited to states. While each individual vote SHOULD count in a national vote, they don't. Democrat votes in Idaho and Republican votes in NY, for instance, are completely worthless because those two states are already nailed down for the other side. Thus...

I'd argue that 1977/78 punk was a major revolution (at least in the UK) if you're considering events that kept music alive. It was atrophying badly at the time.
Get a hold of the Cream reunion DVD from 2005 and wallow in the genius that was Cream. Bruce wrote most of the band's songs, including the tour de force White Room.
