It seems like the general consensus in the sports media is that Fisher is a great coach, that he'd be snapped up in 3 seconds if the Titans were to let him go. I don't buy it. Good? Yes. Great coach that you just can't let go? No.
Sometimes, it just isn't working anymore and that is what is...
Thought this was interesting. DAL, KC, MIN, TB were on BYE week 4.
3 of the 4 lost, coming off of the bye, in week 5 including the only home team, DAL.
Any of you aware of a website that tracks this the last several season? One would figure this is an abberation.
-- In 16 previous seasons, his team has had a winning record 6 times.
-- Team hasn't won a playoff game since 2003.
-- The last 2 times in the playoffs they were 1 and done.
-- In a franchise that has seen remarkable stability, he has never been able to get over the hump.
-- He has...
I had heard the name for some time around here (Nashville) -- Clay Travis.
He is an attorney....and practiced in the Bahamas for a couple of years.
He married a Titans cheerleader.
He loves beer.
He writes a column on Fanhouse and hosts a daily radio show.
He hates the BCS.
Now, the reason...
I was pulling for the Saints...but I still can't figure that out. It seems like EVERY time this comes up, the ruling goes opposite from the previous incident.
Explain this call to me like I'm John Edward's conscience.
Just heard it on Fisher's press conference. No link yet. Check www.tennessean.com or www.titansonline.com shortly.
Huge. Not that their chances are great to make playoffs...but this hurts badly. Contract year, too.
Why exactly is the visual so bad at these places? Detroit and other new fields are fine. But in these two it is just completely washed out and drab. This isn't just today and not just on one network. Why so bad?
I think it is inevitible that is gone after this year or next. Nobody likes this guy, least of all his players.
When he gets the ax -- what is next for him? Is he out of the NFL? Coordinator? Does he ever make it back to the top?
He has to have the worst personality in the NFL...
Like...teams will have multiple franchise tags...or no cap...or no minimum cap...or that we'll have 2x the amount of underclassmen entering so it changes the draft values and increases the UFA... How does this change the FA and RFA status?
Guy is under the radar of the general public but certainly not NFL scouts. From all reports he is a passing quarterback...that can run, the opposite of Tebow. No, he hasn't played in the SEC but he is D1. Also, go to espn.com and look at his game log. Frankly, many of his better passing...
First and foremost, I think they should have a central HQ that does all reviews -- like the NHL. Have them, maybe a group of 3, do the reviews for all games. This would a) Remove the on site official's reluctance to reverse his own call, b)Remove the showmanship of the on site official, c)...
Not sure why, but I think we see more trades. Including Braylon Edwards, who do you forecast as the biggest name to be traded?
Quinn? Keith Bulluck or Jevon Kearse? Derrick Johnson or Glenn Dorsey? Others?
Pro or college.
If you have, what were the circumstances? Did you move from one state to another? Did your arch rival draft your brother? Did you college favorite get drafted by a team other than your favorite? Like the color scheme better? Another team was winning more than yours? Your...
Refs are not having a good year so far, in my opinion. Lots of incorrect, and in some cases "what in the world are they thinking", calls. For this thread, though, let's keep a running list of the TDs that have been awarded or taken away incorrectly.
Awarded:
TEN @ JAX / Mike Sims Walker...
1. Illegal motion -- Rule 7, Article 2, Section 6, Note 1:No player is ever permitted to be moving obliquely or directly forward toward his opponent's goal line at snap.
2. Illegal motion -- Rule 7, Article 2, Section 6:
-- Colts' center, on silent count, was snapping his head sideways to...
The Mike Sims Walker TD? Should have been no catch. See it here. This is the famous "he had 3 feet down" call. Called no TD on field and REVERSED to be a TD on reviews.
He also said that the Jacoby Jones TD against the Titans in week 2 was ALSO an incorrect call and should have been NO TD...
Here you go.
I haven't been all the way through it. Will post as nuggets are revealed.
Couple of examples:
- Some dramatic differences emerge when analyzing the frequency of individual penalty calls. For instance, one crew called 41 offensive holding penalties, while another called just 16...
Well, it is finally here -- NFL football. Once we wade past all the glitz, glamour, hype, celeb shots, music, and intro...we'll actually get some football. What do you see happening in this season kick-off game?
-- Steelers are a 7 point favorite. I like the Titans to cover that.
-- Titans...
Game tied 2-2 in 5th.
Furcal on 1st, 3-1 on batter.
Furcal takes off for second. Pitch is RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE. Home plate umpire signals (distinctive) strike and yell strike.
Throw gets Furcal at second and 2nd base umpire calls him out.
Then...home plate umpire waves off the strike...
