Chi-Chi!
This reminds me of Elvis' rookie year. Got a lot of Elvis, peaks of Holland and Feliz. Had some great veteran leadership at third base. Might be a year from contending like they were, but I think this team is better all around than that team. Fun times again in baseball town.
Got to like the Gallardo trade. Yu, Holland, Gallardo, Lewis, is a solid 1-4. If all stay healthy they should cover 800+ innings. Teppesch, Martinez and Chi-Chi hold down the 5th spot and hopefully Perez can make it back at some point.
Pirates bench coach. Read a few things on him and Hurdle the last few days and think this sounds like a good hire.
Re: not hiring Bogar. He was the favorite going into this process and most likely had a leg up on the competition, but Banister was a better fit. After the last 3 seasons I'd be...
Think I'm going to try and make my way to Frisco tomorrow. Alfaro and Mazara both got called up today. Chi-Chi will be pitching.
Other good farm news. 2014 First rd draft pick, 18 year old Luis Ortiz just got promoted to low A hickory. A little surprised he skipped over Spokane. He's been...
Some good news
@Tepidp Corey Knebel was just plain nasty for Round Rock. Yowza. Struck out the side, all swinging. Touched 97, & the CB was an absolute hammer.
Ya not a very good defender. He has hurt is pitchers a couple times this year. His OBP is still at 367, so it's hard to complain about that, but he's struggling at present. Not sure how much his ankle injury is affecting him at the plate. Hopefully a lot.
JD said on the radio that physicals aren't usually done on trades... teams usually trade medical notes and if there's something suspicious they will investigate it. Also said that a typical physical probably wouldn't have found this as it would have required an MRI.
I not a Wash fan, but I can't see him getting fired for a number of reasons.
1. Injuries- not his fault
2. Check out the names of guys on the roster and in the bullpen. Daniel Robertson, Josh Wilson, a guy named Tolleson, Poreda, Joe Saunders. That's a pretty rough looking group.
3. JD can't...
I know it's spring training and don' want to over react, but that k/bb number does not look good. If you look at Prince's previous ST's his k/bb numbers are a lot more inline with his typical stat line. Hopefully just a bad case of spring training combined with small sample size.
