For layoffs my companies offers a type of sub pay that pays you, up to a certain time period, until you get another job. For terminations you get Jack Squat from the mothership.

Believe it’s a way to purge the workforce without laying people off and paying them a severance. A non compliant employee is documented and warned and is probably legal justification for getting purged.
