1. Win the turnover battle
2. Get at least one big return (punt, kickoffs, turnover)
3. Know when to throw it short and when to throw it deep based on coverages. AKA - Don't force the deep ball in a soft cover 2 shell.
4. Find effective pressure packages to confuse the Colts O-line.
5...
1. Don't turn it over.
2. Make the Saints go down the field in 12+ play drives instead of big plays.
3. Finish at least even on special teams
4. Pick up the blitz consistently on offense.
5. Solid tackling on defense to keep the YAC and YAC (contact and catch) down.
If someone can figure out road outdoor games for Brady, you'd get another apples to apples comparision.Someone a ratings calculators could figure this out by taking his outdoors stars minus his home stats:
Road Outdoors: 51 games, 1079 completions, 1712 attempts, 248.4 yards/game, 63.0...
The first 3 Manning/Colts playoff teams weren't very good. The 1999 year where the Colts were 13-3 was considered one of the luckiest seasons of all time according to Football Outsiders. The 2000 and 2002 teams had no business being in the playoffs in the first place. These were also the...
Warner has had terrible seasons or seasons where he's been the backup much of the season. Brady hasn't had one terrible season since taking over the starting job. That is in a nutshell why Brady >> Warner overall.
Colts 38-34.
Thoughts:
1. I'm a Colts fan, so I'm going to pick them to win, but not cover.
2. I can't pick the Saints anyway no matter what I actually think because I've alreadly been called "Mr. Glass Half-Empty" this week.
3. I think if the Saints play a lot of 3-4 it won't work...
The Saints have played more "good" teams and more "bad" teams than the Colts. The Colts have played a lot of teams that ranged from 7 to 10 wins, and only the Seahawks and Rams truly stunk. (I don't count the Bills game - and I wouldn't count the last Carolina game for the Saints for the same...
Really? How? The Sagarin ratings shows the Colts with the 13th toughest schedule, and the Saints with the 24th toughest schedule:http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/nfl09.htm
What in the world is your point? Are you saying Bushrod stopped Allen all game long with no help whatsover? Are you saying Bushrod would stop a healthy Freeney with no help whatsover?
Wow - this is where stats just don't tell the story at all. There is a big difference between stopping the pass rusher with just the left tackle only and using a TE, RB or both to stop the pass rusher. That is the difference between Freeney and his backup (Raheem Brook or Kenyuta Dawson)...
I have flashbacks to Billy freaking Volek marching down the field in the 2007 divisional playoff game w/o Freeney. Brees is way better than Volek. That feeling isn't going away in my mind this week until this game is over.
