QB Flynn is uncontested starter. Pryor likely to get promoted to backup while the two rookies battle it out for a likely roster spot for a project. Could see the 4th guy on the practice squad.
RB DMac and Reece are the best players on offense. Jennings looks healthy and like he can still play...
Woodson gives us 3 legitimate safeties and the signing means we wont have to see Giordano on the field. Its also great for fans. Good signing. I think Young could backup both safety positions. We'll probably carry a 4th safety but I wouldnt put money on it being Ross.
Cribbs, if healthy, gives...
May roster prediction
QB (3)
starter Flynn
backup Wilson
project Pryor - Even though he's been here 2 years he still looks like a project.
RB (5)
RB
starter McFadden
backup Murray - runs a lot like McFadden although not as fast. I can see him jumping ahead of Jennings on the depth chart...
Only if he changes his mind about playing TE. If we didnt draft a QB, I would have been happy with someone like Tebow or Vince Young to compete with Pryor. Not now though. Wilson is actually a lot like Flynn and we already have a running QB who cant throw very well. No need to add a guy like...
I couldnt find anything about Butler ever returning kicks. He didnt in San Diego. Doesnt mean he cant but I dont think thats why he was drafted. I do think he will need to look on special teams but that doesnt always mean as the return man. McGee was heavily recruited out of high school. So even...
Butler wasnt invited to the combine but apparently ran a 4.36 40 at his pro day. Tall fast WR project who didnt do much in college taken by Oakland in round 7. Al Davis would be proud. Streater didnt do much in college either so you never know.
Predicted depth chart with current players
QB Flynn backups: Wilson, Pryor - Both Wilson and Pryor should make the team and compete for the primary backup position.
RB McFadden backups: Jennings, Murray, Jones - Assuming Jones stays at RB instead of switching to CB, he's a special teams player...
Just found out our late round picks.
Initial impression of the two TEs definately not thrilling. I called that before we even picked one though. I like our current two better than the two we drafted. However these are Reggie's picks so Gordan and Ausberry will have to have strong camps to stick...
TE obviously possible but hard to get excited this late. Where we still really need depth is WR, RB, SS, and maybe FS. Draft is still deep at WR and S so I think we see one (or more) of each before we are done. Can use LB depth if we do go with a 3-4 base. Maybe take a project on the DL or OL...
KC screwed us by trading the Barkley pick but I think Wilson is the next best QB after Barkley and Smith. We get another 6th round pick. Looking back what we should have done is traded back up into round 3 and drafted Barkley. We dont need this many 6th round picks. Maybe we use them to trade up...
3 trades in two drafts for McKenzie. Looks like we are still going to be one of the most active draft day trading teams in the league long after the death of Al Davis.
Jones may have to spend his first year on IR but is a sure starter if he heals right. I have no faith in Brisiel so I'd be very happy with Jones. Jones would be fine at RG but it would probably be better to play Jones at center and move Wiz back to LG. That would leave Bergstrom, Nix, and...
Targets update: QB Barkley, DT Jesse Williams, RB Lattimore, WR Da'Rick Rogers, QB Wilson, OC Jones, QB Nassib, QB Bray. Reggie seems to like players coming off serious injuries so I have to throw Lattimore and Jones in there. That's 5 or 6 guys on this list who had potential to be first round...
We dont have to take a position just because its considered a need. There was never a need to take a RT or OLB. Reggie is picking the guys he likes and he isnt judging by what the media says. That's what Al Davis did and I respect that.
Round 1. Reggie got his CB and number 1 defensive player...
I hope he's the last college player that decides to stay in college when he's projected as a first round NFL pick. I never agree with that decision. Makes him a guy you want on your football team though. Either McKenzie is going to avoid drafting a QB, or he really likes someone else he can get...
Reggie showing some commitment to Flynn. Barkley could have started as a rookie. Watson is a gifted project who will probably have to sit a year or two. We definately need depth at OT but I was hopeing for an instant starter.
DTs continueing to slip. Could still get a good one in round 3.
