STINKIN REF:
Being almost the last survivor/anarchy of the year and having the 16th pick I went away from my normal approach.
7.16 Carson Palmer QB AZ 4
8.01 Ryan Tannehill QB MIA 5
Decided to wait on QB and after watching some AZ preseason action, I felt pretty good about the volume of passing attempts in AZ this year so they were a target I thought I could get late. High volume with talent on the receiving end could have Palmer having one of those end of the career magical years. Would not be surprised by top 10 fantasy finish. Went ahead and doubled up with another guy who should see his numbers increase. I like this combo at this price.
1.16 DeMarco Murray RB DAL 11
2.01 Montee Ball RB DEN 4
11.16 LaGarrette Blount RB PIT 12
14.01 Ronnie HIllman RB DEN 4
Decided to go back to back with the top guys of the second tier and try to at least early make this a position of strength since it is usually my biggest weakness. I've been grabbing Blount in a lot of these for some time now as I think many people were impressed by how he finished last year and I think his role will be bigger in PIT then what some people think. I think that has shown to be proven true a little bit so far and Blount is a reason you will see L. Bell on zero of my teams. Blount is not your normal "back up" or RB2 on a team. In this format, I think he is a steal and an ideal candidate to add to your RB group at a very cheap price, The kind of guy I like to target in these at RB. Hillman has some stand alone value just cause he plays for DEN and he seems to have a stranglehold on the RB2 spot, which in DEN, can produce somewhat significant fantasy weeks. A guy like Hillman getting into the endzone in garbage time when DEN is blowing somebody out and they are spelling Ball, can count some weeks. We all may scramble for RB2 points most weeks.
3.16 Michael Crabtree WR SF 8
6.01 Justin Hunter WR TEN 9
9.16 Marqise Lee WR JAC 11
10.01 Cody Latimer WR DEN 4
12.01 Rod Streater WR OAK 5
13.16 Mohamed Sanu WR CIN 4
I all in on Hunter this year, just wish I would have been in some of the earlier drafts. Swung for the fences at the 9/10 turn after watching a JAC game and seeing what I thought looked like significant playing time for Lee. Latimer could end up being SOD. Sanders having trouble staying on the field and I made this pick prior to Welker's latest concussion, but after seeing him quietly be "excused" from a couple practices. Streater is meh, but should start and Sanu looks like he has been pretty beastly so far this camp/preseason. Injury to Jones makes him significant for a while. Looks like he has beefed up a little too muscle wise, not that that really means anything. He just looks bigger and playing more physical which is usually a good thing.
4.01 Jason Witten TE DAL 11
5.16 Zach Ertz TE PHI 7
Real solid here and went this direction even though some of the other guys I really like were still available. Kind of not wanting to put all my eggs in one basket thing. I actually prefer Ertz over Witten, but as is often the case you let ADP dictate how/in what order you take guys. I have Cameron and Davis almost on my do not draft list this year. I have Ertz, Rudolph Witten and Green behind the big 3 followed by Reed or mixing in Reed. I think Ertz outperforms his draft position in a big way and solidifies a top 5 ranking going into next year.
16.01 Nate Freese PK DET 9
17.16 Nick Folk PK NYJ 11
15.16 Green Bay DST 9
18.01 San Diego DST 10
Felt good about being able to get these positions filled pretty easily with my last 4 picks. Knowing I had the last pick of 17 and first pick of 18 allowed me to not really have to do that last round dance and worry if somebody would go 3 DST or whatever.
Overall: I have some holes and my 9/10 turn of Lee/Latimer could make or break me. I'm kind of on fantasy information overload at this point and have only one major at home draft left. I kind of just want to be done and watch some football.
Good luck (not really, I don't know why people say that)....
