Fly fishing? Or other?
We head into the Caney Fork (below damn tailwater fishing) near Nashville when we can. Last week was the first weekend in a while they were not running the generators.
First fish of the year.
Not a bad first catch this year as we usually are only catching stockers where we first get in to the river and the larger fish are where we wade down a bit and get to our better spot. Caught another rainbow that wasn't quite as long but had a fatter belly later that day. And they must have stocked with brook trout recently as there were a few more of those caught than we had seen in a while. Hoping the predatory fish are down this year as I think that had a big impact for a few years.
That’s a beautiful brown dude!
I have a fly rig and I mess around with it once in awhile but I’m a minnow guy. Redfins. I have a small creek 5 minutes away and I have permission to get in a few private properties and I catch my own. 4 ft seine and kick the rocks downstream to it.
I’ve been doing it myself for years but it’s difficult alone and I’m not as young as I used to be. I bought my wife a license this year so she can hold the net for me lol. So much easier and faster. Just another reason I’m lucky to have her.
I caught probably a dozen yesterday, nothing big. It’s raining pretty hard today, I’m heading out in a bit and hopefully tomorrow. The creek should be on the rise and hopefully off color a bit so the the big holdovers are feeding
