Best 2020 songs ever on WXPN (1 Viewer)

Maybe Philadelphians stuffed the ballot box for his Oscar for “Streets of Philadelphia”.

I still contend that Neil Young’s “Philadelphia” from the same film was a much better song and much more deserving.
Neil Young’s song is better but Bruce’s is more accessible for the masses. The Neil song is a bit “weird” and not typical Oscar fare.

I had a similar earlier post when Fearless was the highest ranked one at the time. Love the placement of Echoes and Dogs. Unfortunately that means that Another Brick II will be higher though. Maybe Pigs to come, too?

nice eclectic mix here

147 - Cortez The Killer by Neil Young

148 - Just Like Heaven by The Cure

149 - Feelin' Good by Nina Simone

150 - The Story by Brandi Carlile

151 - Little Wing by Jimi Hendrix

I'm assuming most public radio listeners are more eclectic/contrarian.

Listening to that Sweet Jane > Rainbow segue was something.

Comfortably Numb and Time have to be too.

I like the song but given how Boomer friendly the list is, surprised at Dawes placing this high.

I mean of all of the songs the past 10 years...

Following #XPN2020. Same here.
That hashtag brought me to this tweet from a total stranger and my allergies are acting up

@StillDewan: Yesterday I was driving and Warren Zevon’s “Keep Me In Your Heart” came on, a deeply emotional song. I stopped for a school bus and a very young child ran as fast as he could to hug his mom. It was just such a moment. #XPN2020

Pretty amazing that the Top 12 years by yearly count on the list are all from 1967-1978.

Interesting guess here. As someone who was born and raised in Philly and was a huge Bruce fan at one point, I hope to God he's wrong about Dancing in the Dark and especially Hungry Heart.

(At least Dancing in the Dark was a commercial success and gave us Courtney Cox)

@timothymalcolm: Gonna publish this now, but this is my late-night guess of the top-100 of #XPN2020. I'm sure I'm missing more than a few, but here it is. https://twitter.com/timothymalcolm/status/1339477544287023104/photo/1

I'd have never in a million years guessed 4 of the 1st 10 they've played so far this morning for being in the Top 100

I listen to XPN all the time and it seems like these are their most played PF songs. Also hear "Bike" every now and again. Really hope it makes the list!

Unfortunately, the #1 song will be.... It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap.... Cause tramps like us... BABY WE WERE BORN TO RUUUUUUUNNNNNN  :X   :yucky:

The Sultans play Creole.

Creole.

The man in the suit has just bought a new car

The lineman is still on the line

Julie, I"d do the stars with you anytime

My favorite station too... I can get it OTA where I live.

ETA: be prepared for the Springsteen onslaught ;)

Philadelphians sure love them some Bruce Springsteen.
