Can the collective power of the FFA help my sister? (1 Viewer)

Hey guys,

I don't post a ton here, but I've been around for a long time.  I've seen how supportive this group can be and I'm hoping to call upon that generosity one more time.

My sister's house burned down yesterday and she lost everything.  Luckily, she was able to get her son out of the house unharmed but in the process, she sustained 2nd & 3rd degree burns on her hands, arms, shoulders, one of her feet and a 2" diameter spot on her forehead.   She also hurt her leg after falling down her stairs in her rush to get out of the house.

Here's a link to the news story: http://www.wmtw.com/news/mother-saves-two-children-from-burning-home/39735376

A little back story on my sister.  My parents adopted her just before she turned one.  It was apparent very early on that she didn't process information like most people.  After years of behavioral problems, my parents did some digging and found out that her birth mother was an alcoholic and a drug addict.  I won't go into the details, but it would be fair to say that her life has often been a struggle.  She was an outcast throughout her school and often had a difficult time at home as well.   She's managed to work through her disabilities and has made a fairly decent life for herself - all things considered.  She got married and has held down the same job at a retail store for several years.  She's never had much but seemed content and was much happier than I thought she'd ever be.  She's turned into an amazingly generous & caring person.

She doesn't have a ton of support at home.  Her husband has significant social phobias and can't handle stressful situations.  When I got to the hospital yesterday, he was preparing to leave so he could go to his cousin's house to take a nap.  Sometimes she feels alone.  As I sat there next to her bed, the gravity of her loss started to sink in and it was absolutely heartbreaking to see first hand. She sobbed quietly and started to recount many of the things that she could never replace including pictures of her son & family heirlooms that meant something to her on a personal level.

After a while, I asked her about her insurance situation.  Turns out that the house was covered but she has no medical insurance.  That's going to be a big problem.  As she lays in the special care unit, I think she has no clue how difficult things are going to be going forward.  She's meeting with a team of burn specialists & has significant physical therapy in her future. Its going to be far more expensive than she has the means to pay for.  The hospital said that they'd like to talk about long term payment plans with her.

She's been dealt a rough hand and needs help.  If any of you have the means to assist her, I would be forever appreciative.  I've set up a go fund me page for her & her family.  Thanks in advance:
