not sure. there were reports they were throwing improvised grenades out of the car. seems like the police response may not have been fully mobilized yet.

Didn't he bail out of the car? Being nighttime and the cops weary of what he could have in the way of guns and bombs, chasing him thru the neighboorhood at night would be a tough job. Almost suicidal.

I don't think that was confirmed. I heard some chatter about that on the scanner, but think it was the wrong guy.

The shootout in Watertown happened with the suspects behind the Mercedes. It would be a interesting insurance claim for the bullet holes. I wonder if the insurance company will try to say the car owner is partially at fault.

That won't matter from an insurance standpoint but how do you figure the car owner was partially at fault? His car was carjacked.

Does anyone know how the canine units are being used right now? Are they merely there to detect bombs or are they used to track the suspect as well? How do they get the dogs to track the suspect's scent? Do the officers have to provide the dogs with some sort of evidence bearing the suspect's scent? I'm assuming the dogs don't come with a Kyrgyzstani-American setting.
