Is there any stat for the number of games a pitcher "should" (1 Viewer)

Other than just looking at ERA, is there any metric out there that factors in average runs scored in all of MLB vs. those scored by the team vs. those scored in a pitcher's starts (or something like this?)

I guess sort of like the pythagorean wins for teams.

Hmm, applying the pythagorean win formula to Matt Cain this year shows a winning % of .517 (on total runs. .534 if using earned runs allowed, but I don't have the earned runs scored, so would be skewed).

Baseball Prospectus uses two stats like this.

E(W) is Expected Wins, based on historical patterns of W/L records, given # of IP and runs allowed.

SNW is Support-Neutral Wins. # of Wins assuming league average run support.

For Cain, BP translates his 7-14 record to 14-14, though it's not clear which of the two stats above they are using.
