I am working to start up a Yahoo dynasty fantasy football league, and look to be short one or two players. I thought I would reach out to the footballguys community to see what the interest was to join the league.

If you are interested please let me know

The Setup of the League

The league will begin with an auction draft where each player is given 200 fake dollars to draft with. Being a dynasty league players will likely pay more for young players, less for older veterans. The tricky part is the following season. Every player can be kept for the price they were drafted for in the first season plus $5. So, if I initially drafted a player for $20, I can keep them for $25 the next season. Now if my math is correct, you will not be able to keep every player you drafted from the prior season unless you had money leftover at the end of your draft (which not always ideal). This makes it more of a dynasty league: you have to make hard decisions, like dropping big name players you overpaid for in the season before.

Now there a number of exceptions to the rule. First of which would be free agents. The way that we do it is we instituted a Free Agency Budget. This will make it so that after every week (usually on Tuesday) everyone can bid on free agents. This is usually for players who killed it that week, or someone's backup after an injury. It is silent auction style so you don't know how much everyone else is bidding (if they bid at all). Then the highest bidder, with a traditional waiver priority being the decider for matched bids, will win the player at that price. Usually, a free agency budget is $100. So if a player goes for $6 on free agency, then that will be their base rate for next season's keeper price. So that person could be kept for $6 +$5 (keeper fee), or $11, next season. This comes in handy to limit those managers who make speculative pickups for free ($0) and the player gets really good; the next season, they would get them for $5.

Now onto planning for who you want to keep. You need to budget below $200 and still leave yourself enough money to get enough players in the draft to fill your roster. Some teams will have a rebuilding year and only keep 2 players, others will fill their entire roster. The world is your oyster and decisions become much more similar to the real NFL. If you are having salary cap issues before the season starts or if during the season a player gets hurt, you can drop him yourself and then bid on them again, essentially renegotiating their contract.

Owners must announce their franchise players approximately one week prior to the draft, typically the third or fourth week of August. The commissioner will send an e-mail out earlier to provide each owner with the exact date.

A keeper league allows for the possibility of off-season trades. Owners are allowed to engage in off-season transactions. Once agreed upon please alert the commissioner to the trade. The trade may need to be recorded and added at the time the league starts up again.

Rule changes

All Rule Changes REQUIRE a MINIMUM vote of 7 out of 10 managers ( or 9 out of 12 managers). IN-SEASON changes must be unanimous.

Owner Responsibility:

All owners are expected to run their teams in a responsible fashion. This includes but it not limited too: submitting lineups on time (no players on bye weeks or injured players), responding to commissioner inquiries, and showing active interest in the league. Owners who exhibit obvious disinterest in the league are subject to a probationary period followed by replacement, all voted upon by the other league owners and requiring a 2/3 majority (6 of the 9) votes. Owners engaged in any form of collusion are subject to immediate expulsion from the league. Collusion can be defined but not limited to, making unbalanced trades, dividing any proceeds/fees, trading assets outside of the current league parameters (ie. Additional money or goods), or promises of future trades.

New Manager:

The biggest challenge of a dynasty league is maintaining the same managers year in and year out. To help ensure this if we lose someone and need to get a new manager, that new manager has the potential to work off of an expansion draft. For instance, every player not kept (for salary issues or otherwise) would be made available for the replacement manager to keep. Let's say you have a big name receiver, but paying $44 to keep them is crazy. The new addition to the league has the option to keep that player. This will help entice new mangers to join the league. In addition to this bonus, in their first year new managers only need to pay ½ of the cost of the buy in. In future years they will pay the full amount. If there is a new manager the total prize pool will be smaller as the new manager is not paying full cost. This means the prize pool will be smaller for the winning participants.

You have been invited to this league because you are an active fantasy football player and not likely to skip out on the dynasty commitment you have made. However if you must leave the league for whatever reason, please do what you can to find another manager to fill your team. Additionally, please give the league as much advance notice as possible.

League Make Up:

Each Week Two FRANCHISES will meet HEAD-TO-HEAD. Whoever earns the most GAME POINTS WILL WIN THAT MATCH-UP, AND WILL EARN ONE WIN POINT.

The league will begin with the kick off in week 1 and will end after the last play of week 16

This league will employ divisions. If 10 teams, there will be 2 5 team divisions. The winner of each division and the team with the next best record in the division will advance to the playoffs (tie broken by overall points). If there are 12 teams, we will do 3 4 team divisions. The winner of each division, and the best record (non division winner) will advance to the playoffs, tie will be broken by overall points.

Playoffs will be weeks 15 + 16. As in the NFL there will be a playoff divisional matchup prior to the super bowl where the champions of each division will meet.

Schedule:

Each team will play everyone in their division twice and teams from the other division once. Divisional games will be during the first five weeks and the last five weeks.

Buy in:

The buy in for this league will begin at 50.00, the idea is that as teams become stable the buy in will increase. The buyin will increase 20.00 every year

Payouts:

Winner of Championship – 50% of prize pool

Runner up – 25% of prize pool

3rd place (playoffs) – 10 % of prize pool

4th place (playoffs) – 5 % of prize pool

Rosters:

Each team will have 16 roster spots (see below). This number will be adjusted down to 15 spots if there are 12 or more teams in the league to provide a larger free agent pool.

QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, FLEX (WR/RB/TE), TE, K, DEF, BENCH, BENCH, BENCH, BENCH, BENCH, BENCH, BENCH

Pease let me know if you are interested
