I think this is what we're looking at for categories - I took out best song for now, split the instrumental/soundtrack category, added the best makeup, best art direction cats discussed last night. I put in documentary in place of the generic best band. This is 20 categories that tie in well with the real life Oscar categories, which is why I've left out the best keyboard solo type stuff for now.
- Best Actor - best male lead vocal
- Best Actress - best female lead vocal
- Best Supporting Actor - best male vocal on a song that is not primarily credited to them
- Best Supporting Actress - best female vocal on a song not primarily credited to them
- Best Picture - Best Album
- Best Foreign Film - best non-English song
- Best Screenplay- best lyrics
- Best Adapted Screenplay - best cover song
- Best Special Effects - Best Use of Sampling
- Best Cinematography - Best Music Video
- Best Art Direction - Best Packaging/Artwork
- Best Original Song - Best song featured in a movie/sountrack
- Best Original Score - Best instrumental song
- Best Editing - Best Produced song
- Best Documentary - Best Song based on specific real-life persons, places, or events
- Best Makeup - Song outside the artist's usual comfort zone
- Best Short Film - Best Song <2 mins
- Best Animation - Best Upbeat Fun Song
- The Cecile B Demille - Song by greatest living artist
- In Memoriam- Great song by artist that died in the last 12 months
