Shark Pool Mock Draft - V2.0. 3 rounds! (1 Viewer)

Drafts like this show me that nobody gives crap about the NFC West. Their teams draw very little interest when calls go out for a GM or a pick is made.
east coast bias
If Groves falls to SF like that, then he's the steal of the first round.
It was hard for me to pass on him at #23 for Pittsburgh, especially since I read an interview with him where he said he's been a Steelers fan all his life and wants to wear the black & gold more than anything. Usually, prospects give you the same.. "whoever drafts me, I'll be happy to be there..." crap, but this kid out and said he was praying for the Steelers to take him. When you hear that, you REALLY want to see that guy on your team - not to mention that he's a prototypical 3-4 OLB.The problem is : gaping holes on the o-line, and where the hell do you play Groves? They already moved Timmons inside and have Harrison and Woodley on the outsides. Harrison is around 30, but is a young 30, having only started one season - he should have 4-5 good years left in him easily. Woodley looks like a possible stud on the other side and is a second-year guy. Moving Groves inside would nullify all his natural gifts.. same with Woodley and Harrison. Only way to make this work is to trade Harrison or Woodley, which likely won't happen. You can't draft a guy in round 1 who's going to ride the pine for the next few years unless there's an injury.
Well, the Giants had Strahan, Osi and Tuck when they took Kiwanuka. Things worked out okay for them.

Ryan and Jackson for KC? Wow, good thing LJ got his money when he did.On the flip side KC good be a good garbage time team with those 2 plus Bowe and Gonzo. Kinda like Arizona was this year.
They're a mess all over. Perfect team to go BPA this year
True dat. They aren't going to win many games again this year.Between them and Chicago for the #1 overall next year.

Chicago has to much talent talent on defense to be that bad. I'd be surprised if they were picking in the top-10.

Their defense isn't really even that good anymore.

32. Miami (gatorman) -- Brian Brohm QB, Louiville.

33. St. Louis (blackjacks) - Dan Connor, LB - PSU

34. Atlanta (Andy Dufresne) - Chad Henne, QB - Michigan

35. Kansas City (RBM) - DeSean Jackson, WR

39. San Fransisco (Andy Dufresne) - Chilo Rachal, OG USC

40. New Orleans (Kirby) - Pat Sims, DT - Auburn

Last few pics made my choice easy. DT is probably the biggest need, and Sims is probably the BPA also.

Tough to rank the next tier of DTs. Trevor Laws and Pat Sims are at about the same level, it seems to me.

41. Buffalo (Mr. Peterson) - Early Doucet, WR - LSU

E.Doucet - will be a great compliment to Evans. Big smart WR that will do all the dirty work that will help Edwards continue to grow.

42. Denver (Almas_4th_child)

43. Carolina (travdogg)

44. Chicago (Deranged Hermit)

45. Detroit (FUBAR)

I assume things will begin to slow a little now that it's after 5 est?

I'll be gone for a while tonight but checking back on Tennessee late.

42) Denver - Felix Jones RB Arkansas

He will help with that one cut and go system. Also could help in the return game....what good value at this pick.

43. Carolina- QB Joe Flacco, didn't intend to take a QB this high, but the value is there. Flacco may be the most talented QB in the draft and I didn't like the D-line players who are left.

Interesting. With as well as Moore played last year, I wonder if they'd take a QB like Flacco.

Moore played ok, I wouldn't say he played well, he just played much better than Carr.
Roger Moore could play better than Carr.

And he'd be damned suave doing it too. :goodposting:

I had originally planned on taking Smith because of his versatility and because he is the "safer" of the two. After thinking it over a little more, I reverted back to Talib. I think Talib has more natural talent and definitely more big-play potential. On the flipside, he also has a lot more risk (off the field issues). In the end, Talib's upside and abilities as a return man trump the risk associated with him.
I think I'd prefer a different corner here, but we both know they cannot leave the 1st round without the best secondary player on their board at one of these two picks. I'll just be happy when they start adding talent to that secondary. I do think Talib's stock was way too high at one point and is on the way down right now. His play is not up to his reputation and his off the field reputation is taking shots. If he cannot cover Jordy Nelson then don't draft him. I gave Andy a list of 4 corners for my next pick in case I was gone, and Aqib wasn''t on it. :goodposting:
Can't argue too much against Talib. But I do worry a lot about the Pot issue. I probably would have gone Flowers were I picking. I have him as a higher rated CB than Talib. But one can certainly debate the CB order, particularly after the big 3.Kenny Philips would also be tough to pass here. I suspect he's got a 1st roudn grade, maybe the only remaining player on the board with that. But Dallas gets handcuffed by must having to get a CB. The guys available at 61 will most definitely be a tier below either Talib or Flowers. Thats not a risk Dallas can take.I'm sure some would lobby for either Jackson or Manningham here as well. Maybe they rate this high, maybe they don't. Personally, I don't think so, but whatever. The bottom line is Dallas had to take CB here.
I agree with what you are saying and that is the one thing that makes me hope that the Cowboys pass on a rb in the first round. I think Phillips at #22 is a great pick and then go Flowers, Talib, or Cason with this pick. The value at rb at #61 will be far better in my opinion. I don't see the need to spend a first day pick on a WR.

I'm 90% sure of the Lions next pick, but I'm going to wait until Chicago goes.

I'll be back in 30ish

Extremely sorry guys. I have been on the road all day and was suppose to be home about 4 and didn't get home until 6. I thought I could make it home for my second pick. The good news is I would have gone with eith Connor or Mayo and I think I like Connor alittle more. I will definetly be here for my next pick. Thanks for helping out.

Did Jax definitely get Buffalo's 71st pick and the Bills kept the 72nd? I would be kinda bothered if we gave them the pick right before ours instead of right after.

Wow, talk about ripping a guy's heart out. :thumbup:At pick number 44 the Chicago Bears take : Mario Manningham WR MichiganTons of needs on this team and, while I'm not completely sold on him, he presents good value here. I really wanted Flacco or Henne here though.

45. Detroit (FUBAR) OT Carl Nicks. What good is it having Roy Williams, Calvin Johnson, and Rashard Mendenhall if your QB spends half his time on his butt?

The Bills definitely gave the Jags pick #71.

48. Atlanta (Andy Dufresne) - Anthony Collins, OT - Kansas

Well, I'm peeved that Nicks went already, but Collins is an okay consolation prize. That's three guys that went just before I wanted them - Brohm, Connor, and Nicks.

31. New York Giants (footballman_696969) - Kenny Phillips

Love Kenny Phillips in this spot and see him as somewhat of a steal here. This is a big improvement for the Giants secondary.

I thought about going with Connor or Mayo, but Phillips is too good to pass up.
Bumping Round 1 so I can see who fell.

bump as well.

DaJuan Morgan, S, NC State

This might be better than going Philips / WR in the 1st / 2nd.

I did want to see what level of talent was available here if the Eagles went WR in the first.

The Cards signed a few 3-4 OLBs in FA but they need to upgrade Antonio Smith's spot on the line. A Dockett/Watson/Laws front looks good.

53. Pittsburgh (Evilgrin72)- Dre Moore, DT, Maryland - Thought about a CB here, but the pickins will be better there in round 3 than the selection of guys who project to 3-4 end will be, IMO. Moore is raw but has all the tools, and he can sit a year behind Kirschke, who is aging, and take over the RDE spot in '09. Steelers' lack of depth on the DL killed them late last year, and they simply must remedy this. Moore is a guy with a tantalizing blend of size (6'4" 310) and speed (4.8ish in the 40) that can be a disruptor in run defense. His relatively limited repetoire of pass rush moves will not be nearly as big a factor as an end in a 3-4.

interesting player to say the least. Too small to be a DT I assume? not a 3-4 nose for for sure. I wouldnt mind seeing SD move down into round 2 and grab this kid for depth

Depends on scheme. Wouldn't surprise me to see him go anywhere from late first through the second.
