Sneaky,Tasty, Juicy, Salty week 1 starts (1 Viewer)

I like David Johnson but his time is not week 1. Arians needs to see Ellington plug away at 3.3 ypc for half the year.

The only problem with these "sneaky" starts is, you will probably be sitting one of your studs. Just not sure I am buying it this week.

I think Scott Chandler (TE) will be a big part of the NE game plan. When Brady scans the field and sees Gronk double covered, I think he'll throw it to Chandler early & often.

What about Edelman? I still think he and Gronk share the top two target spots, with RB spot next, and then it could change week to week after that. Not saying Chandler can't be relevant but as long as everyone is playing and healthy, it's going to be very hit or miss. In mho of course.

If your really desperate B Cunningham. Really really desperate that is.
If Mason is ruled out--I don't see him as being a "very" desperate play at all. Yeah--he's going against a strong defense--but I don't see the Rams trying to air it out that game-which means he should see a healthy amount of touches. If Mason is out--i'd call Benny a solid flex consideration at worst.

Is Marcus Wheaton a "sneaky" play? I've got him in one league and totally forgot about him until this morning. I'd love to get him in for the Thursday night circus against the Pats, but I'd have to bench Jarvis Landry...

I think I'm gonna do it.
No. A starting WR on one of the best passing teams in the league is not sneaky. If you said Coates, I would have agreed. They cut everyone who was in front of him but DHB...
Coates could be sneaky! Offenses are known to start slow.. NE could start slow due to missing some players, allowing Pitt to get more plays.

Benny should catch his fair share of short passes, shouldn't he? I doubt the Rams will pound him into the Seattle D-line all day. Slight PPR value, I'm thinking.

I think one flying under the radar this week is one HEATH MILLER.

Think about it, no Martavis Bryant, no Le'Veon Bell and Miller has been a rock solid go to guy for Big Ben for years now.

Will he put up 20 points, umm, NO.

But 50-60 yards with a great chance at a touchdown wouldn't shock me in the slightest.

I'm referring to the guys that are looking to stream TEs, or perhaps are waiting for one to come back, like Gates.

For what its worth, he may be a "sneaky" good cheap play in daily also.

I don't follow that or play (yet) but he may be worth a consideration.

I picked him up in 2 leagues where I wasn't happy with who I had drafted.

For what its worth, I don't think he would be one I want to touch, after the return of Bell and later Bryant...beyond week 4.

As others have mentioned, if you need a sneaky start week 1 then you are doing this wrong. However, this might be useful information if you are playing DFS.

It doesn't hurt to live n let live.. I mean if you don't wish to help out an opponent or whatever, its fine by a few of us Im sure.

Obviously some of us play in entirely different situations, whether its limited benchs / suspensions / injuries Or just cost to add/drop.

An example (for some) would be, that I would have enjoyed hearing of a manager sweating his first game if his opponent had Tom Brady.

(fwiw) Yahoo has Cobb and White listed as out, while Evans is listed as Questionable. I think all three play, but Roddy will be on my bn for this week (goin w/ Crow) A smart manager would have a backup plan (if needed) Sometimes ya cant just drop all three, and grab replacements. (maybe drop one, and hope for the best...)

Personally, I think it would be ironic if a couple of your players showed up on the injury report!

p.s. Why you clicking on a link titled "sneaky week 1 Starts" Did the title sound catchy? If ya take the time to respond, please include a players name, and possibly some reasoning (if needed)

Maybe in amateur yahoo leagues. Those of us in deeper leagues or 16 team leagues are always in need of sneaky plays.

Eh,it seems like every thread in these forums brings out some haters. Just ignore and keep it positive for those of us who are actually interested in unearthing some good under the radar week 1 plays. Whether it's for seaso long leagues or for DFS.

Could sproles catch some balls or a big gain and possibly a TD.

Not sure how many touches he will get so likely high risk high reward.

I would agree with that. If Tre is out--I could see Benny get touches both rushing the ball as well as in the short passing game. I could easily see 15-20 rushes with maybe 3-4 catches if he's the bell cow for week 1.

Exactly, really annoying when you hear comments like these. Doesn't help at all. In one league, I drafted Gates and Foster in one league knowing I would need some fill ins. I drafted guys I plan to start, but you never know. You make choices to draft guys that may be out week 1 to get them later in the year, so I appreciate seeing thoughts on week 1 plays.

You'd be an idiot to bench Jarvis Landry vs. the Redskins secondary, I think. Or really most weeks unless you have 2-3 better options.
Wheaton is a good bet this week. I wouldn't start him over Landry. Wheaton is my WR6, so I'm not starting him, either. But I am hoping for a huge week so I can sell high on him.

Right. Or with injured players or guys who are suspended.
This. Some of us made the mistake of in the middle of august. And some of those people picked jordy and kelvin. And SOME of them drafted both... I'm having to start steve smith sr, john brown, and kendall wright now in ppr with a deep bench league.

On topic though, I actually like kendall wright for the year as well as for week 1. Supposedly he's mariota's go to, they have a bad defense, and he has shown that he can be a high volume receiver. 100 catches isn't out of the question. Also the bucs secondary is more like an escort, they drape all over you but make sure you score.

I like Karlos Williams. Shady has looked bad and is coming off injury. Even if he does come back for week 1 he might be eased back in. Karlos could take the job week 1 and ruin away with it!

Deangelo Williams. Bell is suspended, Wilfork gone from NE. Should be a lot of scoring

Wheaton, WR PIT. Bryant is suspended, NE has some defensive holes.

Crockett Gillmore, TE Ravens. Only TE on team that's been practicing and Dens OLBs love to blitz, could get burnt.

Richard Rogers, TE GB. Playing the Bears and not many receiving options for Rodgers currently.

Alfred Blue. Foster is hurt.

Eddie Royal. Jeffery banged up and smith out against what might be a shootout.

Reuben Randle WR. Cowboys lost Scandrick and Randle looks to be the benefitiary.
I don't think so. I suspect NE may get a huge lead against that terrible Pittsburgh D and Pitt will be playing from behind a lot. Bump Pitt WRs, bench Pitt RBs. Pats are damn near unbeatable at home too.

"Hmmm have nothing to do with my life. Oh I got it! Let me choose a thread in the shark pool whose title annoys me and try to derail the thread by letting everyone know how I feel about the word 'sneaky'! Ahh...done! Whew...I don't know about you but I feel better already now that the footballguys forum members know how I feel about that super annoying word 'sneaky'. Huh?

Did you see any of the reports on the new contract that the Bills gave McCoy after the trade?

Pretty sneaky reply.

Thank you for changing the title. My goal is to bring attention to the crazy use of those words. Together, we can make it happen. :hifive:

rickyg, good topic. I love the title change in response to the trolling. My pick for a good play this week is Woodhead in PPR. I can see at least a few receptions for high end #2 RB numbers this week. I just can't see Gordon being reliable enough in pass pro this early and Woodhead being on the field gives the offense more flexibility. Gates is out and I can see a slight uptick in receptions for Woodhead for that reason also.

Contract does him no good when he's injured.
Read the part I bolded. He wasn't just talking about Week 1.

Except we have no reason to believe he'll stay out all season. Odds of him taking shady's job in this season are very slim. Williams would have to carry them into the playoffs before they'd let him start fully over shady

Cincinnatti players not named Green, Hill, Dalton or Bernard. Teams like to get guys back on the right foot (no science to this, just a coaching trend no matter the level)......

Tyler Eifert and Marvin Jones, not sure which, but I'd bet one of the 2 are the sneaky play. Not much sneaky about what appears to be a top 12 TE, but to start a guy like Jones may hit pay dirt in the likes of FanDuel and DraftKings....

You haven't seen my WR2 and WR3 options in my keeper league with Alshon at best super gimpy. I'm going to be riding the match-up/surprise increase in role/sneaky play a big chunk of this year I'm afraid. The good news is I think WR is going to have lots of quality short-term plays all season long.

Pats historically don't come out of the gate like gangbusters. I think Pitt's OL can be exploited by a good DL, but NE doesn't have that right now. I'm thinking a ton of points on Thursday night with 2 defenses that just aren't remotely close to good.
