Not sure about you 6 figure earners, but when we travel, we bring our own sheets and immediately drop the do not disturb sign. I have heard many stories about things disappearing from rooms. We just made 13 nites without turndown. Also, my wife showers with her flip flops on. Are we uber paranoid or do you all have the same concerns?
Totally weird.
I'm not saying you don't stay at nice places when you travel, so say you and the wife travel to another big city (Chicago, LA, etc.) and stay in a JW Marriott or equivalent. It's a $400 or so/night hotel, so obviously for the 2 nights you're there for a weekend you expect nothing short of excellence. The night before, Europeans with a lot of money and bedbugs/nasty hygiene stayed in the same room. Obviously housekeeping is good there or their rep wouldn't hold, but they might not have 100% eradicated them. Things happen.
I'm just saying, you take that risk when you travel, expensive hotel or not. I traveled for 4 years internationally all over the world and have stayed in some 4-5 star hotels, and have definitely stayed in rooms that stunk and/or were not turned over as you'd expect for bedding, showers not as clean as could be, etc. I never got bed bugs, but definitely had a few stays where I questioned the cleaning staff and what was lurking. In close, I don't dismiss X's methods here from a sanitary perspective.
