I could have sworn that during the game the announcers said he had tied the record with his last kick.
I just double checked the stats at NFL.com, and they indicate that Colquitt had 41 while Lee had 42. Of course that doesn't mean the announcers didn't try to lead us astray with bad info.

Who will kick for Indy? For those of us doing playoff drafts, this is a pretty important question. Any information out there?

Stover on playoff roster, Vinatieri is not
Not sure what you are looking for as far as thoughts. Stover is healthy, and the Colts coach said Vinatieri has not completely healed yet. Seems pretty cut and dry. Caldwell said Vinatieri will be active during the playoffs as Stovers backup.

as i heard it he was not on the roster. When I read it, it sounds like Caldwell is claiming he'll keep vinatieri on the active roster just in case. I doubt he plays or is on the active roster in playoff games.

Mike, if I can say something constructive...if I wanted to read tweets about kickers, I'd go to twitter.

Reading your posts in Twitter format makes me cringe, and I don't even want to read them.

I don't know if I'm the only one in this boat, but I thought I'd put it out there.

Otherwise, I usually enjoy reading your news/analysis on the kicking game.

Thanks for the feedback. I can't imagine anyone cringing when reading about kickers, regardless of the format - although I could be biased. If there are other cringers out there, let me know so I can take this under advisement.

I agree 10000% When I come in this thread I don't want to have to click a link to yet another thread.Besides, I don't tweet Yo!

HEre is a question Mike that I will put here instead of the rookie thread but not many care about the PK. But I am in one league where they are such a consistent factor and you can start 2 per week if you choose so. So they make good consistent starters.

Any rookies out there coming in that strike you as being good. A PK is so valuable that they certainly are a later 1st round pick value in our league. Succop went 25th overall last year and was an excellent pick for the owner.

Crippler: Don't have a good answer on that yet, however over the next six weeks or so will be taking a closer look at all the potential rookies. I'll be posting info in this thread and in the blog.

I'm one. I used to read ths thread when it was analysis and article quotes, the twitter stuff has kept me away for months

Nate Kaeding postgame press conference quotes:

“I’ve had one of these rested on my shoulders before. Professionally, it’s a tough thing to get through. I’m not gonna feel sorry for myself. I feel sorry for my teammates, coaches and support staff here. I feel like I let everybody down. It’s going to be a tough few months, but if you relish the good part, you‘ve gotta work through the bad as well. It’ll be tough. I’ll let this rest, then pick up the pieces. If you play this game and can only accept it when it goes well, you’re in the wrong business, especially in my position. You’re going to miss some, unfortunately. Some days like this will come. My really bad days have been untimely ones.”

"I don't know if there's a whole lot of irony from my standpoint. But obviously (they were) two tough games personally, and for the team. It's my responsibility to put points on the board and it was the difference today.... I've missed field goals before in games and been able to come back and execute the next one. So that's part of the deal. You're not going to make them all. You're charged with the responsibility of putting the ball through the uprights regardless of whether you made the last one or you missed it. I missed them all today."

BALTIMORE

Keeping an open mind when it comes to the team's kicking situation, coach John Harbaugh said he would consider many options, including an old one. "Matt’s a possibility coming back," said Harbaugh, referring to former kicker Matt Stover. "That could work out that way." Stover is currently kicking for the Indianapolis Colts, but the veteran kicker is expected to be released when Adam Vinatieri is healthy next season. Stover had been the Ravens' primary placekicker in their first 13 years of existence. The Ravens went another direction before the 2009 season when the sides couldn't agree on terms of a contract. Harbaugh, though, also didn't rule out sticking with Billy Cundiff, the team's current kicker, or drafting a kicker. "Billy Cundiff is a big possibility for us," Harbaugh said. "He’s proved that he can make field goals under pressure situations."

I've been thinking about this and was wondering if there is a good reason for an NFL team to actually draft a kicker? Why not just sign any undrafted kicker as a free agent or find someone. It seems that, and this is very anecdotal as I don't know the actual number, there are more free agent kickers on teams than kickers on the team that drafted them. Or am I way off base?

You are generally correct. There are 12 current starting placekickers that were drafted (dating back to Stover) and 1 kickoff specialist (Buehler). There are 20 UNdrafted placekickers and 1 kickoff specialist (Lloyd). A couple current free agents were draftees (Elam, Nugent, Folk).http://www.drafthistory.com/positions/k.html
