Love Alvarez (own a Pedro Hillcats Jersey
), but I'm curious to see how he'll do in the BA department. On the one hand, he actually struck out at a higher clip than Reynolds in the minors. He did, however, have a much better walk rate than both Reynolds and Longoria (BB every 7.96 PAs, Reynolds and Longo both over 9). He started slow and got better at every level and he certainly appears to be doing that at the MLB level as well. He's also never had more than a half season at any one level, so as eagles said, it's hard to tell what he'll do after making adjustments. He's striking out a lot less over his last 10 games or so. He's got the potential to be every bit as good of a power hitter as Longoria.I'd guess he'll be a .270-.275 hitter with 35-40 HR power, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's in the .260 range.
