Actually it doesn't.You referenced wage growth in the 80s and 90s . That article disputes that.
But regardless, here's a link to a chart showing nominal wage growth from '98 - current. I'm having trouble easily finding further back but regardless, nominal wage growth was constantly 4%+ and 5% until the great recession. We're a long way from that now, with a bigly, booming economy, greatest of all time, record low unemployment, and we barely touch 3%. Move that 3% up to historical 5% levels and Joe sixpack will be greatly impacted.
Increases in the stock market? Not so much.
