Weekly Top 200 Dynasty PPR Rankings (1 Viewer)

laughinboy_2000

Footballguy
So this will be my first installment of the weekly Top 200 Dynasty Rankings. Lots of people wanted some type of Dynasty Rankings, so Ive spent some time looking over players and have come up with my list. I may change how I deliver the material weekly, but the list itself will always be included. The main purpose of this thread is to get some discussion and possibly help people out with questions about their Dynasty rosters. I will try and have these updated and sent out each Wednesday or Thursday. Being this is a long list, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE delete players that you dont have questions about from the response so it does not create a LONG response…

In this weeks installment, I have some comments listed beside some of the players regarding their situation, how they are playing, and future outlooks. Enjoy and Discuss!

Kendall Hunter ahead of Stevan Jackson and Fred Jackson?Aaron Hernandez as the #3 TE?
Excellent Question... Let's Discuss!Let's remember first these are Dynasty Rankings. SJax to me is done. I'm not going to sugarcoat it. The Rams have absolutely run him into the ground, and I doubt he stays healthy and productive this year. His best days are gone.On the other hand, Hunter will be the main guy if/when Frank Gore goes down. Let's remember, he got his first NFL "start" last week and posted a respectable 100+ total yards. Gore's injury history frightens me and frankly he has not looked good so far. Call me crazy, but Hunter could end up outproducing SJax this year. Crazier things have happened. Long term though, I want no part of SJax. F-Jax is having a great year, there's no doubt. He's on the wrong side of 30 though, and I just don't know how long he can keep up his current pace. If these were not DYNASTY Rankings, FJax would of course be higher. Regarding Hernandez as the #3 TE, I love the situation this guy is in. He's on a team that refuses to use there RBs, and why would they with the Brady sitting back there. Also, look at how they were using Hernandez on offense. He's listed as a TE but the Pats use him him in WR sets. He's young and athletic and in the perfect offense. He was producing before he got hurt and I don't see the Pats ignoring him he comes back.

there needs to be more dynasty/keeper content in the pool and in the subscriber articles/rankings.

cam newton: there's no other qb i'd trade cam for straight up in dynasty. i know it's only been four games, but no other qb has ever come out firing like this. ever. that's EVER. this isn't a running back whose wheels tend to come off. this is a QB and they tend to improve with playing time. wait until he he's had some experience and is reading defenses better. add to that how much he loves to call his own number inside the five, and there you have it. i could see an argument for rodgers in 6pt/passing TD leagues or if you're concerned that the panthers will tell cam to stop rushing so much inside the five, but in any other dynasty league i'd hang my hat on cam. i'd happily trade brady, brees, rivers, vick, and stafford away for cam. i'd probably be willing to throw in a serviceable RB/WR, too.

jeremy maclin: i don't think he should be ahead of roddy white, aj green, wes welker, and stevie johnson. i like him, but i think if/when that offense loses vick, his value dips a bit. (i don't think vick has much in the tank--he's little, takes too many sacks, etc.) while you could say the same about welker and brady, i think roddy, green, and stevie would produce with other QBs.

fred jackson: silly low. i think age should definitely come into play in dynasty, but i'd be happy to take this and next year's production from him (and cross my fingers for any production from him after 32) over the careers of kendall hunter, blount, starks, ridley, etc. he's the type of guy that could win you a ring or two as a RB2.

30 years old and...3 full seasons

2008 - 817 total yards, 3 TDs

2009 - 1400 total yards, 4 TDs

2010 - 1100 yards, 7 TDs

My reaction... Meh...

Just Sayin...

150 Marshawn Lynch, RB Seahawks
Not at all IMO. He's significantly worse than a whole lot of backup NFL RB's (from a talent AND fantasy perspective). He's a guy you'll never start. And has no upside. Guy runs like he's a 30 year old back on his last legs.If someone kept him out of the Top 200....really wouldn't have a problem with it. Expect the RB upgrade in Seattle next year. I think the only good run he had in a Hawk uniform last year (vs. Saints) had Carroll thinking he was a good RB.----------------Nice work on the rankings. I'd bump up all Falcons on your list (Julio at 24 isn't bad, but I think you'll see him being a Top 12 dynasty pick next year)

I wouldn't say he has no upside. He had a couple of solid seasons in Buffalo. If Seattle got a solid offensive line and passing game, he might be a solid RB2. He's only 25 too.

Those solid years were several years ago. Were they overly impressive? Not any more than Slaton, Kevin Smith and host of other replaceable backs. Those guys were upgraded upon and so will Lynch.Truly stunning IMO this guy is still a starting RB in the NFL. He has no upside because he's not fantasy starting material now & won't be an NFL starting RB much longer.

if im drafting a dynasty team today based off the adp, my team would look like this

1.6 foster - looks like the #1 back again

2.7 mathews - not bpa, but going on a wr run after this

3.6 britt - is a top 5 wr

4.7 stevie johnson bpa

5.6 bowe - anticipating a new qb

6.7 Decker - too much value. pass on Dthomas here unless he shows me he can catch 1-3 passes per game this year

7.6 sidney - too many WRs i like in this draft

8.7 collie - i thought he was a top 5 wr this year with peyton. should be the same only cheaper next year

9.6 fred davis

10.7 fitzP -going qbbc in this draft. lucky that fitzP is still here

11.6 d nelson- wr value in this list seems ridiculous

notes: theres a lot of WR2 guys that i like on this list, will have to adjust with trades. value looks great in the 3-5 rounds, may be enough to get me to trade out of the 1-2 rounds, something that i would never do.

the top TEs should drop a little due to the position being so deep now. id much rather have a davis/petigrew/keller in the 9th over a finley/gronk/hernandez in the 4th.

ryan williams and leshore may be RB targets i plan part of my draft around

I'd suggest just breaking it out by position. Cross positional rankings are really league dependant - plus it's easier to follow. Of course, it's just a suggestion and it's your gig so do it as you see fit.

Good job by the way.

Will certainly take a look at doing that in the future. Thanks for the feedback!

The first thing I did upon opening this thread was to copy the list into excel, sort by position and show the position rankings.

I actually like it as is. This gives us a good idea of trade value across positions. Maybe present it in both forms?

First of all, I commend you for attempting a top-200 overall dynasty rankings list. It's very difficult to do, but they are very useful to us dynasty guys-- if anything, to establish overall trade value.

Now with that said, Frank Gore should not be in the top 100, Sidney Rice should be higher and RB Ryan Williams shouldn't be ranked at all until we see if he can recover.

Just not a big fan of Rice. Especially with the QB mess in Seattle. He'll have some good games, but unless the Seahawks get a decent QB, Rice's potential is limited IMO.Not a big fan of Gore either, and that's why I have Hunter closely behind. Gore showed he had a little something left last week, but I personally see Gore sliding down my rankings unless he can prove he can be consistent.

It's unfortunate what happen to Ryan Williams, but the big think with him is that he's YOUNG! Give this guy a chance to recover. PT's and doctors can do wonders these days. Give him a year or two and he could be valuable.

I agree he could be valuable someday, but right now the market for him has to be almost non-existant. Anyone looking to buy him is going to offer a price that's pretty low, and for the current owner it won't be worth it to sell.

I like the attempt too although to be really useful IMO you need to differentiate between PPR and TD heavy leagues. For example, you have McFadden very high, and in PPR that is deserving. But in TD heavy leagues I wouldn't put him that high. None of the other top backs, Rice, ADP, Johnson, Slim Shady, share goal line carries. I also think you would be better to rank them not overall, but say the top 60 RBs, top 30 QBs, top 75 WRs, top 35 TEs. Or something like that. The reason is that variation can be huge depending on league scoring. So, in my league I would never have any QB in the top 10. They are just too replaceable compared to backs or WRs, and they only get 4 pts/td in my league, so their comparative value is less. It is better to let people draw their own comparative value between positions based on their own league scoring. You wouldn't want someone taking Tom Brady over Larry Fitzgerald in a league with PPR or a league that allows you to start 4 WRs, for example.

These are indeed PPR Rankings, and I have changed the title of the thread to include that. Sorry it took so long to change it. You are correct, these rankings depend a lot on what your league scoring is. Even at 4 points per passing TD, I would still take Rogers and maybe even Brady over Fitz. Brady and Rogers are on fire, where as Fitz is playing decent, but could be putting up much better numbers if you ask me. I will consider putting the players in their own catagory in the future. Thanks for the suggestions guys!
