  1. Searching is coming back around now. Invision did a minor upgrade to the latest version and we kicked off a rebuild of the search index afterward. The rebuild is about 55% complete now and it should be finished by end-of-day tomorrow. For reference, I was getting 2 results returned on a board-wide search for "tony gonzalez" before the upgrade. I'm getting 67 results on the same search now. More than likely, the template change in the updated version clobbered the preview text on the "Next Topic" link -- I've requested that it be added back.
  2. Thanks, @DA RAIDERS, @mr furley , and @cosjobs -- my best guess so far is that the forums fire off some sort of javascript to clear out the saved contents of your editor after the reply is posted, and because of the size of this thread, that script is either timing out or not getting fired. I know that the rich text editor that Invision uses saves its contents to your browser's local storage to reduce the chance of you losing a long post by accident. But it is supposed to clear the editor out once the server confirms to the client that you've successfully replied. I'll check with Invision.
  3. Does the quoted post appear whenever you reply to this thread, or whenever you reply to any thread anywhere on the forums?
  4. @Osaurus, the "Back To Top" link you were looking for has also been restored at the bottom of each page. Fifty topics/posts on a page can make for a pretty long page.
  5. Couple of tweaks to the default forum theme have been implemented based on feedback in this thread: Text color in posts and forum index pages has been made darker for better contrast. "Back to top" link is back at the bottom of each page. 50 threads/posts make for pretty long pages, so I can see the need.
  6. Hey @Dedfin -- can you point me to some Invision boards where "ignore" extends even to quoted text? I'd like to see how they do it so I'll know better how to ask for it.
  7. The temporary Trump thread has now been merged into this one, because continuity.
  8. OK, the Trump Years thread is back. It was sent to the archive on Sunday morning for some reason that isn't completely clear at this point. What I do know is that late on Saturday evening, one of our moderators deleted seven posts from the thread. This event appears in the moderation logs. However, there was no indication in the mod logs or admin logs that anyone archived the thread. Invision has confirmed that the "last post date" on the thread was somehow set to 0, which caused the archiving to commence. My working theory is that the seven posts deleted by the moderator were the last seven posts in the thread (we know they were consecutive posts), and that somewhere during the deletion process, the software lost track of the last post date to assign to the thread in the database due to some obscure bug. Meanwhile, the archiving process is set to wake up every five minutes and look for threads that need to be archived. Since this happened late in the evening, my guess is that no one posted to the thread for the next five minutes. Once the archiver fired up, it saw a last post date of 0 in the database for the thread, which met its archiving criteria (a long, long time since the last post because zero in a time/date field would effectively be the defined "beginning of time"), and it started archiving the thread.
  9. WHERE DID THIS THREAD GO!?!one!1!! Hi y'all -- sorry for the trouble. I've been researching how to make our forums faster and more responsive over the last month. The performance of our forums, though never particularly speedy, had become uniformly slow with occasional unpredictable and excruciating delays. So I asked the folks at Invision Power, the forum software's authors, to dig in and make some recommendations on how we can speed the site up. They recommended a number of infrastructure and settings changes which we've implemented in this upgrade. More performance upgrades will be coming when Invision releases their 4.0 version later this year. But their most significant recommendation -- more important than all the others combined -- was that we needed to archive and reopen the board's largest, most trafficked, and most loved threads. There are fifteen threads that account for over 845,000 of the board's 13,000,000 posts and they've been viewed nearly 13,000,000 times. These threads have grown so large and they are loaded so often that their performance impact on the board can't be properly normalized. This is one of those fifteen threads. For now, we've moved these threads to a new forum called Archived Topics to isolate them from the most heavily-trafficked forums -- the FFA and Shark Pool -- and preserved them so that they cannot be replied to, edited, or deleted. The original threads remain searchable, and I've added a link below to the original version of this topic. Over the next couple of weeks, these threads will be converted into archived threads by the Invision Board aoftware and moved back to their original forum. After archiving, they will remain searchable and browsable. If you are the Original Poster of one of these threads, I encourage you to start a new topic to be version 2.0 of your thread and PM me with the link. I will merge this post into your new topic and leave it pinned for a few weeks. 15. What about the Shield? It has been like the cat's meow for a while now. I also think the PPS is a fine small gun. As a recent owner of a Shield, it's quite a bit bigger and heavier than the pocket .380s. Great little gun but if you're looking to minimize size and weight the .380s are pretty sweet. I still love my Sig P238 and if you like the 1911 platform, I think it's the perfect pocket gun. The trigger on the Kahr P380 is my favorite of the very small semi-autos, and I like their bar/dot combat sights, though if you get a model with night sights, those are the standard three-dot variety. It's also the smallest gun I know of that has pretty much standard semi-auto controls (automatic slide lockback on last round and a useful slide release). Crimson Trace makes a nice triggerguard laser for it, too. It's a very easy shooter. Kahr released the CW380 a few months ago, and it's MSRP is a couple hundred dollars less than the P380. It's still pretty hard to find, though. The differences between the two models are listed here.
  16. I've been listening to a lot of Bobby Bare (senior) lately and noticed he wasn't on Bentley's big list. Man, that's some great stuff. Shel Silverstein wrote some classic songs, and Bare's 60s voiceovers and live "singaround" delivery from the 70s-80s are good shtick. Streets Of Baltimore -- an 8 minute epic with amazing dobro punctuation
  17. I believe that is because they do not allow searches with words with three letters or less. Been that way since day one. Correct on the standard search. I had been experimenting on and off with using Sphinx for searching which did allow some three-letter searches, but the results weren't that much better than the standard search. I'll give it another shot when things calm down somewhat. As a TN HCP holder, I can tell you that there is no suppression of ideas on this forum with regard to Second Amendment issues.
  18. Forgot to mention Rob Jungklas. He had a few power pop hits back in the 80s, but for the last 10 years, he's been playing delta blues-based Americana. Like his MySpace profile says, "Terror, longing, and supplication in weird, open tunings."
  19. Great list. Here are a few others in that ballpark that I really like: Buddy
  20. I was ready to ditch AT&T wireless because of the amount of network congestion in the areas where I used it most. But their LTE network is pretty snappy. Just that change alone makes this upgrade worth it.
  21. MobileIron by a longshot. Good works well if your users are moving over to the iPhone from BlackBerries, but if they're iPhone users, they will despise enterprise email being broken out into a separate app rather than integrated with the standard iPhone apps.McAfee EMM isn't a bad solution if your company has an existing relationship with McAfee.
  22. Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers are solid. Showed up for the "Van Sessions" and wound up buying the album. http://www.nickibluhm.com/video/
  23. Never heard of them (new to this stuff) but I will check it out for $6.99 My linkIf you like it go ahead and pick up 1372 Overton Park. Really all their albums are worth owing.Absolutely love them. I will be downloading your recommendation this weekend. I could loop "I Can't Stand To Leave You" from the new record for hours. Great stuff.
  24. Cool. I'm still trying to juggle the schedule but would love to make it. It's funny in that most BBQ I've had there has been pretty average. I've only been to Jim Neely's and Germantown Commissary once but both were pretty average. I did enjoy Rendezvous but more for the spectacle of the experience with the waiters. Feels more like a fun steakhouse restaurant than a BBQ joint. I was with some Memphis people this weekend and they raved about Fat Larry's being the best in town. Also said the Rib Cage on Pickwick was great. I would kind of like to hit Cozy Corner and Corky's just because they're famous. But I'll let you be the guide, Icon. I'm good with what you recommend. J Fat Larry's is my go-to these days. It's located in a old converted house on Summer Avenue near Arlington. Their muddy ribs and brisket are tops in town, and unlike the Rendezvous, lunch is the best time to show up. If I could have only one BBQ plate in the city, though, it would be Cozy's ribs.
