2nd pick:

QB: Cam, RGIII, Alex Smith

RB: Rice, D. Brown, Stewart, Mendenhall

WR: A.J. Green, R. White, Wallace, D. Moore, Burleson, S. Holmes, L. Robinson, Owens

TE: Celek, Winslow

K: Hanson

DEF: Eagles, Packers

I'm not thrilled with TE but I think it'll suffice...

I don't know why you are grabbing a guy like Smith in this scenario. You only have 4 RBs and Mendenhall has a lot of Qs about him (and Stewart got dinged up). I would have taken basically any RB over Smith there. Otherwise its a solid looking squad.

nice job. charles or fitz in the 3rd was a steal. you managed to go 4 or 5 deep at rb to combine with 2 of the best at wr, plus bowe.

7-spot tonight

QB - Vick, Luck

RB - DMC, Doug Martin, Quizz, Kendall Hunter, Alex Green, Taiwan Jones

WR - AJ Green, Victor Cruz, Torrey Smith, LaFell, Steve Smith (stl), Josh Gordon

TE - Kyle Rudolph, Jermaine Gresham, Lance Kendricks, Dwayne Allen

K - Alex Henery

D - Denver

---------------

My thoughts....

1) This is the "All-Second-Year-Players-Team"....not sure if that is good or bad

2) I feel like I have a ton of upside....but if one of Martin/Quizz/Hunter don't hit close to RB1/2 numbers I might be in trouble

3) If I lose Vick to a game or two I think I'm OK....if I lose him for the season I might be done

i like a lot of these players, and can't tell who you reached on, but i get the sense that you project a few of these guys to take a leap (tsmith, all the rbs, rudolph, kendricks). my only concern is your flex scoring is going to be very hit or miss.

Did the FPC last year, and had success with having multiple great quarterbacks... so when the opportunity was there this year, we couldn't pass up.

Let me know what you guys think... Tight ends are a little weak, and WR/RB might both be missing studs, but we are pretty deep at both and if we play the right matchups I think we can certainly make the playoffs and maybe make some noise in the championship round, if we hit big with some of our high-risk/high-upside plays....

Guys in bold are starters/potential starters

QB - Aaron Rodgers, Cam Newton (will play at least 3/11 regular season weeks, maybe even week 1 when Rodgers plays San Fran) and last but not least Tim Tebow for if and when the New York Jets season goes south....

RB - Jamaal Charles, BenJarvus Green-Eillis, Michael Bush, DeAngelo Williams, and I like these two sleepers: Mikel LeShoure (could be huge early with Best on PUP) and Rashard mendenhall (could be huge LATE, when healthier)

WR - Greg Jennings, DeSean Jackson, Miles Austin, Denarius Moore, Michael Floyd, James Jones

TE - Scott Chandler & Heath Miller

K - Alex Henery

Def - Green Bay Packers & New York Jets

you're going to have a few great weeks, but there will be too many duds. i applaud the effort to draft 2 qbs and hurt your leaguemates...but you need everyone to stay healthy, and a bounceback season from charles...djax, and deangelo. the choice to draft 2 qbs is going to hurt and i think you compound it by rostering tebow. on tes, even in a best case scenario chandler or miller will hit 60 catches and i think heath is going to block alot again.

i'm getting worried about the tes as davis hasn't done anything and the jets are stinking it up but you have a decent shot at being consistent throughout the year. think you wasted 1-2 picks on the extra d and kicker though.

Drafted out of the 2 spot last night here's how it went:

QB: Vick, Locker, Freeman(Vick fell to the 6th I couldn't pass him up and backed him up with a high upside QB in Locker and a decent 3rd string QB in Freeman who fell to the 15th)

RB: Rice, Steven Jackson, Spiller, LeShoure, Scott(Depth to me is a concern especially with Jackson who will be hurt at some point and took a huge gamble with LeShoure, but if LeShoure is anything close to being 100% when he comes back from suspension I like him a lot. I wanted to add depth, but every time I was about to grab a rb I liked I got sniped by the guy ahead of me)

WR: AJ Green, Steve Smith(Car), Lloyd, Little, Denarius Moore, Mike Williams(TB) I like my WRs and think its the strongest group in the league as long as Green doesn't have a Sophomore slump and Smith is healthy its extremely strong, I think Lloyd and Little have tremendous upside and being able to grab Moore in the 10th and Williams in the 14th represented value.

TE: Brent Celek, Scott Chandler (This position is going to hurt me unless Chandler is a sleeper this season and comes on strong and Celek lives up to his potential. In leagues that score 1.5 ppr for TEs you want an elite TE, but when you want Hernandez and he goes before you can pick again in the 2nd you have to settle for depth and starters at other positions.)

PK: Stephen Gostowski and Greg Zuerlein(took Gostowski in the 16th and Zuerlein in the 20th, although I hate taking two kickers there wasn't anyone left at the other positions that I would've been thrilled with getting and if he wins the starting job in St. Louis he's got a steel leg and may lead the kickers in points this season and he's backing up Gostowski who is arguably the best fantasy kicker.)

Def: Patriots and Cowboys (I like the Patriots to bounce back not to mention they play the Jets who look awful and the Dolphins who are in rebuilding mode twice and the Cowboys who should cause a lot of turnovers.)

I believe we were in the same draft last night.QB: Brady has a chance to break both the passing yard and TD records this season and you backed him up with a QB who could very well be top 10. I like your QBs a lot.RB: If AP comes back strong your RBs are among the best in the league Lynch more than likely won't be suspended this season so you may have two top 10 RBs, BJGE should do fine as a RB3/flex, Stewart is good in PPR and if one of the RBs goes down in Carolina you have the other which could turn out as a huge advantage as well.WR: Although I think you are very weak at this position you took three WRs that are huge question marks Brown may not play until mid-season, Steve Smith may be the rave at Rams training camp, but will it translate on the field during the regular season, if he returns to his form from a few years ago then you have a strong WR3. Josh Gordon is a work in progress and may not be on the field as much this season. I love Cruz, but like most experts have said the Giants may want to go back to a more balance approach and that could hurt Cruz. Vincent Jackson could be a good-great WR2 depending on how much TB decides to throw the ball and if Freeman bounces back or not from last season.TE: Your team resembles my team and like I said in leagues that count 1.5 ppr for TEs you really want an elite TE which you don't have. I wanted Kendricks but you took him a round before I wanted to take him, I think he's going to be a real sleeper and if he does have the season I think he's going to have you'll be fine at this position.PK: Hard to do better than two top 10 kickers.Def: Again you have two top 10 defenses, but without Suggs how good will the Ravens defense be and with how dreadful the Jets offense looks will the Jets be gassed and give up a lot of points?

Got the 11th pick....I kept missing on players I wanted by 1 or picks.

- was thinking of targetting Gates with Gronk; missed by one pick

- was hoping Fred Jackson or Doug Martin would get to me in 3rd round....both got picked in the 5 picks before mine

- was hoping to draft Vick in the 6ht....lost him to the guy with the 12th pick who picked him on the turn before it got to me

- was hoping then to pick Peyton Manning in the next turn ... and guess what, the guy who drafted Vick took Peyton too....bizarre

Long story short, I had to change gears all through the draft and decided that I could not pass on the TE value falling because of the crazy run on WRs (one stretch in 4th round went as follows: Dez Bryant => Michael Turner => Colston => Antonio Brown => Bowe => Harvin => Steve Smith CAR => Miles Austin => Reggie Bush => Demaryus Thomas => Jeremy Maclin)....which is all Wrs except 2 ....and then Mike Wallace and Stevie Johnson went before my pick so I decided to pick Witten ... too much value to pass there in the 1.5 PPR league

My team:

QB: Cutler (10); Fitzpatrick (16); Russell Wilson (14); Matt Cassell (18)

RB: Jamaal Charles (2); Willis McGahee (4); Isaac Redman (7); Mendenhall (12)

WR: Jordy Nelson (3); Torrey Smith (6); Lance Moore (9); Amendola (11); Jon Baldwin (15)

TE: Gronk (1); Witten (5); Tony Gonzalez (8)

D/ST: Bears (13); Lions (17)

K: Hartley (19); Prater (20)

I plan to start all 3 TEs; both Torrey and Jordy; Charles and then plan match ups for the RB2 slot between Redman and McGahee and mostly start Cutler unless match up is really good for Fitz or if Russell Wilson starts showing upside with rushing points.

Thoughts?

I like your. team. Your strength (or major seperation from other teams in your league) is probably Tight End. You have a good QB in Cutler (will surprise many) and decent WR's (I really love the Jordy Nelson pick). The weakest part of your team is at RB as there are many question marks there. Charles statistically won't be the same Charles as in years past until 2013 (year after ACL surgery). Your McGahee and Redman picks will make or break you there. They could surprise many and actually boost your team over the top. If I were you, I would get Lance Ball (if he is still available in your league) just in case as I sense this guy will shine if McGahee goes down.

P.S. Would you mind rating my team above? I believe its 2-3 posts above your original one. Thanks Brother !

Thats a great team with all those Packers in there. Of course you need to keep looking at WW for any TE you can get. Benson is a great pick now that he is on the GB roster and bound to start. Start Lance Moore at flex...you will get some 8 point games but there is potential for 20+ every 3 games or so. Good luck and thanks for the feedback on my team.

I like your team but it appears that your 3 players short in your draft. In the Football Guys Players Championship Draft...shouldn't there be 20 players that you drafted? Regardless, below is my summary of your team.

I like the Chris Johnson and Fred Jackson pick. Pray that Jackson goes off and stays healthy as this will be huge for your team. I believe Chris Johnson will be back to the same CJ2K as years past. Jennings could be fantasy gold if James Drew is traded or doesn't report to camp. I do not (nor ever liked) Shon Green

Your QB's are solid. As of tonight, Manning looks like he has the timing down with his receivers. Locker and Fitzpatric are good packups in case Manning gets injured.

I like your receivers except Laurent Robinson. I'm just not high on him with Gabbert as his QB. I've always loved Lance Moore as he is a sneaky little receiver that flies under the radar alot. REMEMBER.....IF YOU RESEARCH HIS STATS.....HE MOST OFTEN TIME GETS HIS FANTASY POINTS AND BIG GAMES IN DOME STADIUMS. FOR SOME REASON HE PLAYS TONS BETTER IN DOMES THAN ON GRASS. KEEP THAT FEATHER IN YOUR CAP THROUGHOUT THE SEASON WHEN MAKING YOUR STARTING LINEUPS.

Decent Tightends, Kickers and #1 Defense...what can you say? Depending on your competition, I think you will be in the mix come playoff time and could win your league. Now it terms of the $150,000....do you have enough to compete....that's a little tougher dependent on who your other 3 players were.

P.S. Would you mind rating my team above? I believe its 2-3 posts above your original one. Thanks Brother !

one reason to draft an entire team (qb, wr, rb) is that if the offense is dropping 40-50 points you can make up a whole mess of points in a couple weeks. ideally you add in some consistent scorers, which you have, and a high reception te, which you're missing. i think the te limitations is way too hard to overcome in the championship rounds, but for your league playoffs you're looking pretty good. good luck

What evidence do you have (out of curiosity) that it is hard to overcome TE production in the Championship Rounds (rounds 14-16)? If I recall, there are only 2 years for the Football Guys Players Championships -- surely NOT ENOUGH data to base your claims on. Last year you can argue that because the winner had Alex Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski ....but there is NO WAY a guy can get these type of TE's (in rounds 7 and 8 which he did) and still get all the other top guys also on the cheap (e.g. Tom Brady - Round 5).

To me...this is going to be a VERY DIFFERENT YEAR in terms of who the winner is going to be that wins the $150,000

Thoughts/Opinions?

this doesn't directly address your thoughts, but it's much tougher to flex a decent rb or wr once the bye weeks begin. there will be times when a team with stud rbs and wrs get great wr and rb production but get nothing from te and flex spots. otoh consistent rb and wr production matched with an elite te and say greg olsen and dustin keller are going to easily get 150 points a week, which is huge during the bye weeks when the scoring average is down to about 125.

every year is a very different year. the issue isn't about the value of the te. the issue is the TE position is a position. to win this contest you need to outperform 3000 teams and if you can't outperform the average playoff team at every position (including te) you don't have a chance at all.

First time draft from the 4 spot. Definitely made a lot of rookie mistakes, CJ1K over Megatron or DMC maybe being the biggest. Don't like my team, and I definitely learned some tough lessons going through the draft. Talk me off the ledge, or give me the final push if you see fit.

QB - Romo, Dalton

RB - CJ2K, Sproles, B. Wells, Blount, Best, Leshoure, L. James

WR - Colston, V. Jackson, De. Thomas, S. Holmes, D. Nelson, L. Jean

TE - Hernandez, Cook, Moeaki

K - Bailey

DEF - Bears

the 11th pickQB: Cutler (10); Fitzpatrick (16); Russell Wilson (14); Matt Cassell (18)RB: Jamaal Charles (2); Willis McGahee (4); Isaac Redman (7); Mendenhall (12)WR: Jordy Nelson (3); Torrey Smith (6); Lance Moore (9); Amendola (11); Jon Baldwin (15)TE: Gronk (1); Witten (5); Tony Gonzalez (8)D/ST: Bears (13); Lions (17)K: Hartley (19); Prater (20)

It looks like you and I had similar thoughts given our draft positions at the tail end (10-12). Your biggest weakness is clearly RB, as McGahee is a bit of an unknown and it may be a few weeks before the Pitt RB situation settles out. Your TEs and WRs are quite strong and should put up consistent if not outstanding points, but you're likely going to be very frustrated from the RB and perhaps the QB positions if you don't pick the best option week to week.

2 QUESTIONS:1) Is the 3000 teams in the Championship Rounds (e.g. top 2 winners) or all of the teams that joined the League?2) In terms of the Championship playoff rounds (i.e. weeks 14-16) is better to start 3 Tight Ends....are just your best players REGARDLESS of position? Thanks brother !

The 7th Pick

Quarterbacks:

Newton (3), Roethlisberger (11)

Running Backs:

McFadden (1), Charles (2), Wells (7), Royster (12), Dan. Thomas (14), McKnight (18), R. Brown (20)

Wide Receivers:

Harvin (4), V. Jackson (5), M. Floyd (9), L. Robinson (13), James Jones (17), E. Royal (19)

Tight Ends:

F. Davis (6), Gonzalez (8), Keller (10)

Defense:

NY Giants (15)

Kicker:

Gostkowski (16)

Overall, I was pretty pleased with this draft. I had hoped that DMC would fall and counted myself lucky when he did. I had not planned on going QB as I did, but when Newton fell, figured he was good value in the middle of the third round. Still wonder if my team would have been better if I had taken S-Jax in the third instead. Like my starting WR's and was hoping to land Davis, so was happy there. Figure that Wells and Gonzo can act as flexs unless someone else emerges.

Royster and Thomas are guys that may be able to give me a couple games here and there, while McKnight and Brown are good to be cut for free agents. Floyd, Robinson, Jones and Royal all have potential either if they have injuries ahead of them or if they progress on their teams.

Keller may be the leading WR on the Jets if his hammy is ok.

Went D and K early b/c of late bye weeks and because I was feeling ok with where my team was already.

1. my bad, i meant the 400-500 teams that qualify2. never said it's better to start 3 te in the championship rounds. i said through regular season bye weeks and injury bugs it pays off to have multiple starting quality tes. my point is during those 3 championship weeks there is too much overlap between championship round teams. the winner will have outperformed every other team at qb, wr, rb, te, and flex. its a total crapshoot where you hope for 3 weeks you run like god at every position. that's why i would never punt a position because what are the chances any of your late round picks can gronk? winslow could put up a good year but zach miller is still a pass catching te and better blocker. davis is unproven, chi has oline issues again. imo dickson is your best bet to run like god but is inconsistent with pitta there. either way, looks like you've got a league playoff team on your hands.

Here is my team. Would LOVE to know your thoughts. 12 Team obviously and picked #8. Couldn't believe Rodgers lasted to the 8th Pick:

Starting Roster

1 QB - Aaron Rodgers

1 RB - Darrin Sproles

1 RB - Benjarvis Green Ellis

1 WR - Greg Jennings

1 WR - Jordy Nelson

1 TE - Kellen Winslow

1 Flex - Peyton Hillis

1 Flex - (it's between Cedric Benson, Beanie Wells, Lance Moore or Kendal Wright)

1 K - Mike Nugent

1 Def - Chicago Bears

Bench

Jay Cutler

Jake Locker

Beanie Wells

Cedric Benson

Mark Ingram

Terrell Owens

Lance Moore

Kendall Wright

Ed Dickson

Kellen Davis |

Buffalo Bills

Thoughts? Opinions? Do you think I have enough to win the $150,000 this year :)

It looks like you're all-in with the Packers season. If they have a dominant offense, you will put up huge points. If they are just average, I'm not sure you'll make up enough points with your other players. That's not a great strategy to win your league, but in this format where you have to beat out so many other teams it can give you the edge needed to place high. Don't be timid on your waiver acquisitions!

First time playing FBG type scoring so didn't know where those TEs would be grabbed. Was wishing to find cheat sheets here with the 1.5 PPR scoring. Decided to wait on TE but couldn't get one until 10 were off the board but I feel "okay" with what I ended up with. Anyway here's my team drafting from the 10th spot with 3rd round reversal. Likely will use RB and WR as flex spots

QB-E Manning,Fitzpatrick

RB-Forte,Murray, M Bush, Gerhardt, F.Jones, Tolbert

WR-White, S Johnson, A Brown, Little,J Baldwin,G Tate, K Martin

TE-Gonzales,Kendricks,Clark

5th pick

Rodgers, A Smith

Lynch, Reg Bush, Don Brown, Vereen, Turbin, L Miller, Alfred Morris

Nicks, Dez, M Floyd(SD), Dem Thomas, Jeffery, M Floyd(Arz),

Olsen, Daniels, Houser

Hanson

Steelers

no depth issues IMO. No true studs except for QB. Glad I got Turbin to back up Lynch. WRs are solid, 4 deep with 2 flyers.

Chris Rainey or Antonio Brown will score a few on punt or kick returns this year. Rainey had 2 called back tonight vs CAR. smooth and quick.

First time in this contest. Be gentle...

From the 2-hole:

QB - Newton (2), Schaub

RB - Rice (1), Tate (6), Bush (8), Tolbert, Turbin, T. Jones

WR - Colston (4), T. Smith (7), Blackmon, Cobb, Sanders, Douglas, Jean

TE - Hernandez (3), Pettigrew (5)

K - Akers

D - Bills, Lions

I don't plan on starting any WRs as flex (obviously) as it's my position of weakness. I'm one injury away from a great RB crew.

You have great upside at RB but i am concerned with who you are going to start amongst them assuming if no injuries occur. Assuming Bush is michael (if you got Reggie in the 8th than you are lucky as hell lol). Blackmon could actually serve as a solid flex for you, I like your TE's obviously.
