Why couldn't the patient have picked up on the color of the doctor's shoes? I'd imagine some pretty remarkable stuff is happening in the brain of a patient who's about to die/dying. Random synapse firing (or whatever, I don't know that much about brains) could cause the patients to recall/relive...

The version I watched on Netflix was subtitled. It didn't make it that much better, though.
