Calvin Johnson to retire - CONFIRMED

Good info from Schefty. Thanks. Lions handled WR right. They signed Golden Tate as FA in 2014 rather than draft a stud. Calvin gets hurt, GT immediately plays like a #1, makes the Pro Bowl and carries them to the playoffs. Best FA signing of 2014. They saw value and talent and struck...

2025 Detroit Lions: 0-0 Getting ready for camp.

Mayhew has only had 3 drafts. Low round picks can't necessarily contribute in their 1st year, so there's 2 yrs of returns to review and you're selling him short. Sammie Lee Hill in the 4th has been very valuable. Dan Gronkowski in the 7th was traded for Alphonso Smith. Steal. Chris Houston...

13 Iowa football players sent to hospital

They're flushing the kids' systems with fluids similar to flushing a car's radiator. Taxed kidneys aren't able to process that much fluid so the body ends up retaining fluid. Some are suggesting the 30-50 lbs. number may be a little high.

13 Iowa football players sent to hospital

Article providing some more perspective from one parent. http://hawkcentral.com/2011/01/26/players-...trusts-coaches/ “As a father, I’m concerned,” Poggi said. “Obviously, when your son is admitted to the hospital, that’s a concern.” Poggi said he was pleased with the responsiveness from the...

Should rushing TDs be 7 points in PPR leagues?

I see eye-to-eye with the guys treating these events as independent and discrete. If you're going to think along these lines of "TD Value" and combine scoring categories, then receiving TDs are worth more than 7 points in PPR leagues. In some leagues, they're worth 11 points and in mine 13...

Should rushing TDs be 7 points in PPR leagues?

No, the whole point of PPR in our league (and other performance scorers including our 1 pt for every 5 carries) is to reduce the overvaluing of fullback TD vultures, and/or the impact of part-time players getting their lucky TD and being more valuable during a week than a fulltime starter.

    Haynesworth suspended

5 games without pay.Looks like I saw that Haynesworth signed a 5 year/ $8.3 million deal.Assuming that cash is spread out evenly (probably isn't) and doesn't reflect any bonuses (probably doesn't), then my math as an approximation:8.3 million div by 5 yrs div by 16 games x 5 games = ~$518,750.00...

Which College has produced the best NFL players historically?

Fixed for accuracy. See Bo Schembchler's autobiography where Dierdorf makes that announcement during MNF while Bo is in a nationally ranked QB recruit's living room. I'm Benny Friedman, NFL Hall of Fame QB and Michigan alumnus, and I approve of this message.

    Cut bait on Dominic Rhodes?

I'm definitely holding. He's not taking off (yet) like Dodds thought in the preseason, but injuries (to Addai) and the rookie wall are both two huge possibilities to giving Rhodes lots of the value during FF playoffs. He's done for 2007 in Indy, however.

OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS: Team with worst management?

Agreed completely. I almost added that the Cardinals give the Lions a run for the money (long term).Currently, the Niners do mirror the Lions in part because their big failure followed great success. At least the Niners can point to the creation of the salary cap as one large cause of their...
