Best team in the NFL after week 13

Gotcha. I read it as the Lions haven't played a bad half in their last 14 games.

Best team in the NFL after week 13

I know they hung on to win, but wouldn't being outscored at home by Chicago 20-7 in the 2nd half qualify as a bad half?

    QB Justin Fields, NYJ

I'm pro-Fields here and think he's a much better option than Wilson. And I agree the line/receivers have done Fields no favors. But the Steelers are the 20th highest scoring team in the league while giving up the 2nd fewest points. So I'd have to think the D is the main reason for the 4-2 record.

Down 14 with under 5 minutes and you score, do you go for 2?

    Go for 2 is definitely the right play. Assumptions (rounded for easier math): XP make% = 100% 2P make% = 50% OT Win % = 50% If you go for 2 on the first TD, then here's how often you win or lose: Make 2P, Make XP = 50% (50% x 100%) WIN Miss 2P, Make 2P, Win OT = 12.5% (50% x 50% x 50%)...

I think it's debatable. Settling for 3 and leaving Mahomes 90 seconds and no time outs isn't exactly game over. If there would be only 30 seconds or something like that left by running, I'd be with you for sure. As it was, I think they were trying to give themselves the best chance of getting...

    Week 14 Weather

Dobbs & Carr over Lamar? Not sure the weather's ever been bad enough to warrant that.

    Some bad football this season.

I don't think this was necessarily a "players were so much better in my day" post. But the OP was a bit vague. :-) I thought I'd look up all the QBs from 20 years ago, week 9 2003. So no cherry-picking. Here are all the matchups with leading passer and passing yds. Delhomme 193 Banks 154...

Could you make an open field tackle to stop an NFL starting RB from gaining 10 yards on a rush for $1mm?

Not sure why the $ matters. I couldn't do it for a dollar or a billion dollars and neither could anyone else on this forum.

    RB Isiah Pacheco, KC

Pacheco returned kickoffs like he has all year, including 3 times before the Skye Moore muffed punt. That punt was SF's only punt of the game. Pacheco returned 2 more kickoffs in the 2nd half. I don't think the Skye Moore punt muff had any effect on the KC RB rotation.

As listed, I'd agree that kicking FG makes more sense. But it was actually about 4:30 left and 4th and goal from the 2 and a half yard line. To me, this is really close. And going up against probably the best team in the league, you should be more likely to take the higher variance play, aka...

Despite being someone who thinks NFL coaches settle way too quickly for the winning FG attempt instead of going for the TD, I believe LaFleur got this one right. Yes with Rodgers, you feel safer going for the TD than probably anyone else. But his receivers are pretty inexperienced. And there...

Romo started to question not saving time for the botched snap, but quickly went away from it when he realized GB had only the 1 TO left. In order to play for the potential botched snap (I'm assuming you'd save the final TO for that possibility), GB would have to send out the FG unit while the...

The Cards' big mistake was taking only 1 delay of game. Imagine trying to corral Kyler from 12 yards out. The defense would have no shot.
