Gimme Wright and Benson ahead of Brooks, even before the ACL injury. Brooks looks well-rounded but unremarkable in all facets.
Wright reminds me of Alvin Kamara.
Benson reminds me of Adrian Peterson.
Brooks reminds me of Alex Mattison.
So many punditos now forecasting Penix to the Raiders at 13.
If they take him, I hope it's b/c they have fallen in love, and have intell that won't last, and not because they've been convinced from outside.
I've come around to the idea of drafting Penix, but still not sold if the opportunity cost is Taliese Fuaga or JC Latham. Hopefully, whichever is the right call, the Raiders will find a way to make it.
First time I watched his highlights, he was going in the 2nd round of mocks drafts and I kept thinking he looked like a young Aaron Rodgers. Underrated legs and arm, for sure, at least at that time. Ironically, he seems to get comp'd most to Alex Smith. Yeah, no.
Agree with the assertion that the two biggest needs from this draft are QB and OT, which also happen to be two of the deepest positions. Just need to get the picks right. Notre Dame RT looks interesting for later if they take a QB in rd 1. May be able to get that guy in rd 3 even. If they play...

Agreed. I wasn't suggesting AP would make the picks on his own, but that he'd have (by far) the biggest voice/influence on the group as they attempt to form consensus.
Of course, but my point is that I think AP will have THE biggest voice/influence; and more broadly that I am intrigued and optimistic about having him in the room in that way.
I agree that AP will seek collaboration and consensus, but I also think he'll have by far the biggest voice and influence in the rooms where that consensus is formed.
So curious to see what this Raiders draft looks like with coach AP the alpha voice in the building and room. IMO, Telesco is lead scout overall, and primary picker in the late rounds: while, like Gruden, AP will mostly steer the ship in the early rounds. Gruden is firmly established a terrible...
Chargers already have a stud LT. Harbaugh will trade down a few spots and take Fuaga or Latham to play RT. That is unless Marvisson II falls into his lap at 5, which was perhaps his grand (JJM) plan all along.
