2025 Las Vegas Raiders thread - ☠ Brock is back. Not that it matters, but he's back.☠ (19 Viewers)

If the Raiders trade Maxx Crosby this season, I am switching allegiances to that team until he retires. ****ing hell, Raiders.

Check out Brennan Carroll …weird
Eye closers while talking are always odd. His is extra creepy

His pupils are super dilated. Seems like he is on something. Coach Beard quickly becoming the farce of the Pete Carroll era.
My immediate thought was that he was on something. There could be some medical condition that would cause that but I don't know what. Also, if on drugs, you never know if it is a prescription or off the street type. I try not to judge people on things like that as you really don't know what is going on.

What I can judge is that the Oline is playing like crap and I still can't figure out why JPJ is in the doghouse. We have seen him play before at high levels.

There has been something strange going on with the organization since Pete and gang were hired. JPJ is just a small part. A lot of good players were cast aside and replaced with junk.

Perhaps is similar to Gruden. Decent coach, but terrible scout./evaluator.

^^^ None of that excuses the blatent nepotism. For that alone, I want Pete out ASAP if he doesn't make corrections during the bye.

Precursor to Jakobi trade?
Hopefully. LV needs to sell every player they can even if Jacobi is a good WR2. This team is at least two years away from competing and that is if they draft a very good QB in the draft and find a competent coaching staff.

Season's gone, we need to get young guys on the field. I love this article (and am beginning to hate Pete Carroll if this keeps playing out) - why isn't Decamerion Richardson playing? He got a lot of snaps last year and looked like he was improving but zero now? With Pete's boy Ky Blu getting torched? And what about Porter? I didn't like the pick, but that money's spent so let's get him on the field and learn. Caleb Jones and Charles Grant were 3rd round OL and our OL sucks, put the rooks out there and see what happens.

Agreed. Get the youth on the field to see what we have.

I posted upthread last week or so how pathetically underutilized this rookie class has been. Old man Pete and his Son Beard just keep giving me more and more reasons to want them out.

They can't keep turning over staff year-after-year.
I agree. My only concern with Pete atm is his "my guy" history. Bringing in his sons as assistants (and awful results from their units), getting a bunch of SEA retreads (our awful LT Forsyte, Ky Blu, Lockett, Geno), a few other assistants. Those actions themselves are fine, I get you know and trust those guys and that's always where you're gonna start, but if he's not willing to pull the trigger and make changes when it's obvious they aren't the answer that's when you get into incompetence.

I've also softened my stance on this a little bit because, as it turns out, money really does talk. There are only 32 of these jobs in the entire world, they pay like gangbusters, and only 4-8 come open any given year. We were right in it for Ben Johnson last year, and I never expected a guy like Carroll to come here of all places when I'm guessing he could have had other options as well. Guys like Joe Brady, Todd Monken, I wouldn't expect them to pass on a $5M a year job opportunity if it comes knocking.

But yes, at some point we have to have coaching and scheme consistency so our players can start mastering playbooks and we quit jettisoning quality players just because they aren't "coach's guy".

To be fair, Patrick Graham has been their DC for four seasons and, they don't look any better than year one.

I am on record as being against the Carroll hire but, even I recognize you have to give systems and staffs a minute to work.
Carroll has the track record. You can't pull him without giving him a chance. His son does not. Spytek has to step in and force his son out. If that means Carroll goes in response then it is what it is but this nepotism clearly is not working and has never worked.

Nepotism has worked plenty of times in the NFL. Shanahan is an obvious example but, there have been a bunch of sons who have gone on to tremendous success.

Coaching is a trade it's not like you go to college for football coaching.

But, yes Carroll's son needs to go and Spytek needs to make it happen. My guess is, nothing will happen in season. And, frankly it's already a lost season*, keeping the Carroll boys on staff may be the best path towards a top 3 pick.

*Everyone can spare me the "Never quit" nonsense. Any victories they tally at this point are pyrrhic. Losses in disguise.

If they're not willing to trade capital necessary to get a top three pick and, tons I here will scream bloody murder if they do, they need to lose their way to the top.

If the Raiders are going to take big swings in the first round (Jeanty) despite massive needs elsewhere, then let them swing on QBs. Mahomes, Herbert, Nix.... Raiders. They'll never compete until they get a legitimate QB under center. They'll probably ##$$ up any QB they draft, and then they'll turn into Baker Mayfield playing for someone else but, they need to keep trying to land that QB until they finally get it right.

Cheer up guys, I think it is only gonna get worse. I doubt they win another game this season. I know people will point to the Browns as a winnable game, but I think Geno will cough the ball up enough to give the Browns a W. Others might point to the Giants game but I think Dart is playing much better than Lawrence and Lawrence just laid a 30 burger on Pete’s defense.

No. They'll win just enough games to make sure they have no shot at a top QB. Then they'll draft a "once in a generation" punter with the 7th pick and hire Brennan Carroll's dog walker to coach tight ends next year.

^^^ I will say that other than Maxx, Bowser and maybe Jeanty, no one on the roster should be untouchable. Even AJ, I'd consider moving if offered a 1st+... Problem is after those three, does anyone else even have value? They're high if they think they are getting a 3rd for Meyers, but if they can load up on some late picks for Meyers and/or anyone else on an expiring deal (Stokes, Roberts, Koonce, Parham come to mind), you can now unload those guys and open playing/development/assessment time for young-ins behind them.

One more gripe from yesterday... Ty Lockett. Washed. Why waste time/energy on him? Playing Lockett over Bech and Thornton is the equivalent of Alex Cappa over the rookie OL they drafted in the THIRD round. This **** needs to stop. You now have only so many games left to assess the team for the future. Try to win, BUT play the young players! Two winnable games left on paper ROS. Hopefully, Pete doesn't survive getting just 2-4 wins this season. Speaking of washed.

Yeah, I have trouble disagreeing with anything in this post. IMO this offseason a lot will depend what happens with Carroll's staff. If they don't get rid of Brennan then they need to get rid of Pete. And, I abhor the idea of, yet another one done coaching staff.

And, frankly I am over the Patrick Graham experiment. He's not getting hired as an HC in 2026 so he won't generate any comp picks so, lets start over there too.

Time to trade Maxx. Poor ******* deserves better than this.

No. **** no. You do not trade a Maxx Crosby or a Bald Bowser. You build around them and if you can't THAT is the problem.
Crosby and Jeanty are going to follow the same path as Mack and Jacobs. It seems obvious when you consider this team isn’t getting on the right path in 2-3 years. Carroll will be relieved of duties mid season next year and that is when Maxx is traded. 2027 will be another “fresh” start with another retread coach because that is how Davis works. Good young coaches are not coming to LV.

LV fans need to face reality. Their team has been one of the worst teams for the last 20 years and will remain a bottom feeder for many years.

I'm going to push back on that one a bit. Josh McDaniels earned another shot at a HC job and, looking at Drake Maye MVP candidate I have to wonder if they cut bait too early. McDaniels may be an organizational nightmare with an off-the-charts face punchability factor and, he may be ill suited to lead an NFL franchise but, he can coach the hell out of a QB. And there's the rub, the Raiders don't have a QB that any right minded young coach would want to take responsibility for and, THAT.MUST.CHANGE.

Ben Johnson was a legitimate candidate for the Raiders and, Mark Davis was absolutely willing to shoot the locks off his wallet to land him but, not surprisingly Johnson preferred to coach the 2024 #1 overall pick. Maybe if the Raiders made a commitment to move up to #1 and grab Ward, Johnson would be the Raiders coach this year.

If the Raiders aren't willing to tank for the #1 pick in 2026 then, they need to start building up the draft capital to make a move up the draft board. They need to try and finally land a franchise QB and they have to sell that idea to Todd Monken, Joe Brady, Klint Kubiak, Mike LaFleur or who-the-heck-ever.
