  1. Yeah it baffles me when teams don't employ the platoon more often. It can be very productive and keeps the bench guy sharper. For some reason team seem to value an every day player higher. I can see not platooning more than one position (only have a 26 man roster) but whatever.
  2. Very similar to the Cards. If the Reds sign Ozuna (who I am not crazy about returning to STL) it does make them look serious. But do they want that commitment to a guy who has been just a little better than average other than one year in his career?
  3. Anyone that didn't notice how good the Reds pitching was last year wasn't paying attention. They have some really good arms. Especially when you consider they pitch in a band box stadium.
  4. Yup. As a Cards fan I'd like to ridicule the Reds. Not gonna do it. They had excellent pitching last year and the emergence of Suarez plus Votto gives them a nice 1-2 punch in the middle. Add in Moustakas and they are beginning to look capable of contending. I do think Akiyama is a bit risky though. The foot injury is one thing. Maybe nothing but with speed guys always a concern. His age another at 31 you never know where the decline will start. And coming from japanese baseball there might be some drop off. If I'm a Reds fan I like the move. but not without risk. Kind of like the Kim signing bt STL. Not a huge thing but upside in it.
  5. Hopefully he will be more consistent next year. Heck, I've actually got delusions the Cards could win a few more games in real life. LOL
  6. His season is now over. I'm just going to say I see a franchise level QB there. Remember he did what he did as a rookie, with limited team skills around him. if they add any talent to the team he is probably going to be considered a top 10 QB in next years drafts. And as a citizen of Phoenix - GO CARDS.
  7. These last two weks my bench has outscored my starters. I am sooooo happy FF is over for the year. ðŸĪŠ
  8. I am torn. No way I can sit my big guns. Carson, Chubb, T Hill all play regardless of opponent. Best WR is perelman so he plays. Left with D Freeman, Boone, M Sanders, Gallup, Mostert How in the heck I am in the losers section this year I have no clue. Oh yeah, my team was the most scored against in the league by a wide margin. 😐
  9. I'm in the same boat. I have Carson, Chubb, D Freeman, M Sanders, Mostert and Boone. You all should pay close attention to who I start because whoever is on my bench will have a career day. 🙄
  10. He won't look dorky to the gold diggers. 😎
  11. Maybe there will be lots of blockbuster trades. I doubt it but ya never know.
  12. 3 batters rule is stupid. Baseball needs to stop trying to fix what ain't broken. Are they going to enforce it in a world series game when a reliever comes in and can't find the strike zone? I doubt it.
  13. Sad day when Munson died. I've a friend who was briefly a catcher for the yanks in 1979 with Munson. His career ended pretty much when he and Richetti were hit from behind by a drunk driver. Munson was a great player no doubt. As was Simmons. As a Cards fan I think Simmons HOF entry is long overdue and glad to see it.
  14. I agree. And as a Cards fan as sad as I was to see him go I heaved a huge sigh of relief when the Angels outbid STL. It was fairly obvious his body was deteriorating rapidly and the Cards don't have a DH position. He would have been a major albatross to STL. Still wish him all the best.
  15. Sat him last. This week Carson, Chubb and either D Freeman or Sanders.
  16. Yeah. I am a Cards fan. If I thought singing Rendon would take them to the series I'd say pull out the stops and go for it. Sadly they aren't that close. It will take a couple of rookies to emerge and then the splash add.
  17. Not sure how you determine this. Career WAR is 46 Munson and 50 Simmons. Other stats also favor Simmons. Munson might have been better had he had a longer career but it is what it is. In either case both great players.
  18. Sorry. Sometimes I am too literal. But you have a good point. But doesn't it seem like power pitchers in their late 30s are more a thing of the past? Heck, pitchers that throw 300 innings are gone. I dunno. Glad it isn't my money for 9 years on Cole. Big strong kid and might earn it but I like his side of the deal.
  19. Were both the Neikro brothers knuckleball pitchers? I don't think that takes as much toll on their arms.
  20. Haven't seen this confirmed yet. But if so I hope for your sake he is playing LF. His arm is not up to playing RF. Heck, saying defensive liability is understating how bad he would be in right. And I say this as a guy who is a Cards fan and likes Ozuna. He is a heck of a nice guy just lacks OF instincts and arm.
  21. I got Sanders back in. Still on the fence for Flex. Freeman, Carson, Penny. Dunno. Probably change it 3 times between now and Sunday. LOL
  22. Thanks Fungi. Interesting you play Penny above Freeman. I thought Devonta looked good his first game back. But then - having ALL of SEA RBs seems proof of getting solid results. Might do it. On Samuel I am torn between he and Ridley. And of course the TEs are a tossup. How in the world am I 4-9? Baffles me.
  23. OK, mini rant. How in the world with all my bad luck I still scored 4th most points in my 12 team league and ended up 9th. Yup. Teams against me scored more than against any other team. Surreal baby. OK, why do I care since now is the playoffs and I'm outside looking in? I don't know but that's how I roll so help me sort through this way too deep team to start the best guys to win in the losers bracket. QB - D Watson or K Murray = Watson I'm pretty sure TE - D Waller or M Andrews = Waller I think since Andrews faces BUF stout TE defense RB/WR/FLEX - I need min 2 RB and WR and 1 Flex. RBs - Chubb, D Freeman, C Carson, R Penny, M Sanders, B Scarbroguh Really tough. I think Chubb Freeman Carson as RBs and Flex WRs - T Hill, Ridley, Gallup, D Samuel Leaning Hill and Ridley I look at this team and WHY am I not in the playoffs. WHY WHY WHY. OK, I feel better now. Open to opinions on who to start.
  24. Right now I am playing Tyreek Hill and Calvin Ridley at WR over TY Hilton. To play TY this week then (since Ridley plays Thursday and Tyreek is better than TY) he would need to take my flex position ahead of M Sanders, R Penny, B Scarbourough, D Samuel, M Andrews, D Waller and M Gallup. I' thinking TY isn't getting into my roster this week. Or next until he has a clean week of practice and no "maybe" about it.
  25. Carson owner here. I am grabbing Penny. I think in this offense it is possible to play both and get high end RB1 production from them. Use one in the flex. If one starts to take the job full time (again) play him.
