I have to admit I thought Archer looked a little like Hester when he came out. That being said he has lost the confidence he played with in college. I think it's worth seeing if he can develop still, especially if he's a hard worker. You can't just train speed like his.

Unfortunately I've gotten used to Pouncey not being around. It's hard to say we'll miss him when we never really had him this year

This. I think the Steelers will be ok without Pouncey. They need Ben and Shazier to get healthy.

Never mind, they updated the report I saw from "out" to "unlikely to play."
Well that's not much better :(
Originally it was reported as a stinger and then a separated shoulder. Separated shoulders typically heal in a couple weeks so it is disappointing that he's still dealing with it after 4 weeks. You gotta wonder how much rust he's going to have to shake off when he returns.

I guess it is best to wait until he is 100% so he's good for the long haul but in Shazier's case that's probably only a week or two anyway.

Shazier, Roethlisberger, Will Allen all officially out for Sunday.
Yep. The Steelers (like a lot of other teams) have been hit by the injury bug early and often.
Is it me or does it seem like we have a bye week 4 or 5 every frigging year until this year when we actually could have used an early bye? Might just be the tendency to only remember the epic bad beats, but it really seems like this to me.

I'm really nervous that Tomlin may be arrogant enough to start Vick again. They have to acknowledge that Jones put him on the bench. The offense has just been scraping by the last 3 games until the Vick injury.

Watched both Bryants TDs and the 23 yard gain. (3/119 of his 6/132)

All vs. SAFETIES in in man coverage.
If he made the right reads and got Bryant the ball which permit him to then make the YAC, then he did his job properly, right? In that offense, you just need to be able to pass the ball and put it into the hands of your playmakers.

Sure if they wanna leave 5'9" safeties on him then they should abuse them for it.

I think you may be speaking of Jones? I was speaking of Bryant. Either way. ;)

Yes, my bad. I was speaking of Jones. I am right there with you. :towelwave:

I'll go ape if they start Vick next week. I can't imagine that will happen. At least they can run their regular offense effectively with Jones.

Was at the game today, huge sigh of relief from everyone when Jones came in. Was a completely different feel with him in there. He could actually get the ball to receivers. And wow, the kicker. They may have a parade downtown tomorrow. What a great win.

Vick was completely inept whereas Jones was the best quarterback at Heinz field yesterday. He better be ahead of Vick on the depth chart.

I have to give the Steelers coaching staff a lot of credit -- they are getting it done with a lot of young players and missing a lot of starters.

Absolutely love the decision to throw the ball on second down with 2:15 left. If they run it all three plays the Cards likely get ball at the 2:00 warning in decent field position.

Charlie Batch brings up a good point. We likely won't hear who the starter will be until very late in the week. Keep the Chiefs guessing, make them prepare for any of the 3.

Is there really anything to prepare for with Vick other than to stack the box?

That is something to prepare for. You (might) have to have a guy spy him in case he runs. And I would think even though the coaches would run the same plays with Landry and Ben (Vick obviously has a smaller set of plays), you would likely plan a defense for Landry differently than you would Ben.

As much as i'd love to see Ben back it does scare me a little if he's not 100% to have him going against the Chief's pass rush with a swing guard/center playing center and a guy who likely would have been on the practice squad again playing left tackle. Alejandro did play well though. If Adams isn't ready they're going to have to sign someone though.

The upside of Ben's absence is that the Steelers' D has been forced to become an above average unit. There are still weak spots, but this D should definitely get some credit for the run they've made. If they keep improving and we get the full compliment of offensive weapons healthy, look out.

So Beachum is done for the year. Any word on the MItchell injury? Any other major injuries from that game? Who replaced Beachum and how did he do?
