12 Team League - Final 2 week schedule? (1 Viewer)

So many leagues deal with this. The uneven schedule.

12 Teams / 13 week regular season.

Play a round robin for 11 games. No divisions.

How do you handle the final 2 weeks?

1) Luck of draw

2) Play total points for 2 weeks and give top 4 a 2-0 record, middle 4 a 1-1, bottom 4, an 0-2

3) Set up little mini tournaments - 3 4 team tourneys

4) something else

i know. chances are just letting chips fall is best and thats what they do in real fball but making it more interesting and not being so luck driven.

curious what others do, like, don't like. plus i think it helps make leagues better.

I played in one 12 team league where we had a single opponent weeks 1 and 2, then two opponents week 3-12. That we played everyone twice and playoffs ran week 13-15. It was a whole ago so byes must not have been issue in week 13.

I didn't like it. I want to focus on one opponent. Schedules, byes and rosters are so random - I think letting the chips fall where they may with a normal schedule is good enough

Set your teams up in 3 Divisions of 4 teams each and use the following. All of a sudden, your schedules are perfectly balanced so your issue above goes away.

Every team plays their division opponents twice (total of 6 games)

Every team plays all other teams once (total of 8 games)

In Week 13, schedule a double-header for all teams, so you end up with a 14 game schedule over 13 weeks.

We play doubleheaders all year. Just let the chips fall where they may provided it's a randomly generated schedule.
