NEW YORK -- Jets rookie defensive lineman Quinton Coples has been fined $15,000 by the NFL on Friday for grabbing the facemask of Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne.

Coples was called for a penalty when Henne scrambled for 1 yard on third-and-3 last Sunday. The play extended a drive in which the Jaguars later scored in the Jets' 17-10 victory.

meh... I've stopped caring about fines. They are part of the NFL now. Like speeding tickets for us.

Coples earning about 5mil this year, facemask ticket $15,000 = 0.3%

I earned about 50k this year, speeding ticket $150 = 0.3%

Of course next year he doesn't get a fat signing bonus and a salary only 800k means that 15k fine is pretty damn sizable.

My problem is that the fine is the same for a g who makes the league minimum. A guy making 5 million a year can handle a 50,000 fine, but for a practice squad guy who gets called up for a game or two, it could be a significant portion of his yearly salary.
