16 - Championship Week - Best KICKERS (1 Viewer)

Carpenter may be solid facing the woeful Bills at home.

Blair Walsh, @ Houston ? He's on fire these days.
As a Blair Walsh owner, let me assure you that he is most assuredly not on fire "these days". He was on fire today to be sure, but since his bye he's gotten 4, 2, and 3 points. You'd have to go back to week 10 for his last game over 10 points.

I am getting killed with Zeurlein each week, I need another option that can average more than 1 XP a week for a championship. Really low bar, what we got?

Cobra Kai Forbath
Yeah a solid choice I think, but watch the weather reports. Weather certainly can be a issue late in the season in certain cities. That being said, the Redskins offense is on a roll and this a huge game for them and they should put up plenty of points but the Eagles D showed some signs of life last week and may be able to hold them to a few FG's. Forbath hasn't missed a field goal yet.Graham Gano might also be a option. The Carolina offense seems to be heating up and they should get plenty of opportunities to score at home against Oakland.Garrett Hartley is a guy who has been dropped in a lot of leagues. He has been better lately though and weather won't be a issue in Dallas. He may not put up huge numbers but certainly won't put up the donuts you saw from a couple of kickers this week.Speaking of which, I have rode Tynes for a long time but he has all of a sudden become shaky missing 3 of his last 7 kicks and he will be playing outdoors in Baltimore this week. He might end of having a decent game but I just don't have a lot of faith in the Giants offense right now. He almost cost me this week and I am looking elsewhere now.

Correctamundo. Rolled with him all year and changed up to Cle Dawson this weekend.

Josh Brown worked out for me well last week and I'm thinking of riding the hot hand against Pittsburgh while Cincy is fighting to make the postseason. Weather may change my mind though.

Probably going to continue to ride Shayne Graham given that he'll be at home and playing indoors.

Just worried the Vikes D won't be able to hold the Texans offense off enough to force field goals.

Brown is the only viable pickup and even that move's weather-permitting.

May pick him up to keep him away from my Championship game opponent.

Nugent could return too so that bears watching. Extra time off should help him. Nugent didn't do much in the first meeting so if he's the kicker I wouldn't be too fired up about him. I would like Brown again, though. Much stronger leg. The way the Seahawks are rolling Hauschka is worth a look. Wilson's playing great but he really plays well at home. Hauschka has 6 FGs in his last two games.

This is who I'm planning on picking up. I was gonna with him this week but got scared cause RGIII was out so I picked up SD's kicker and got an outstanding 1 point. In the past 2 weeks I've had a combined 3 points at the kicker position. Luckily the rest of my players have performed so I keep moving on.

I always like to look at the FGs allowed and FG attempts allowed.

Going on the premise that Tynes, Janikowski, and Gostkowski are all likely gone I give you Rian Lindell, going against the Dolphins as a sleeper:

linky to FG Allowed ranks

I have found when looking for sleeper/single-game kickers it's good to look at what teams seem to give the opposing kicker a lot of chances. Oakland should see chances bases on their opponent next week. If Janikowski were available I'd pick him up but I would shocked if he was.

I think past Field goals allowed can be misleading. Yes, the Panthers have given up a lot of field goals but they also have been trailing quite a bit this year. Teams that are losing a lot tend to give up more field goals. This week though they will be strong favorites to win.Janikowski could be a dangerous play this week because the Panthers are starting to play better and they may smoke the Raiders this week. IF the RAiders get too far behind it often takes Field Goals out of the equation. For instance the Giants this past week twice chose not to kick field goals on 4th and 1's in the first half because they were behind 17-0.I'd rather the safe points of a team with a good offense who you know are going to score a lot and should be in a competitive game. I'd actually rather Gano in that game because I think the Panthers will win this game pretty easily.

Dan Bailey looks like a safe play, has been pretty consistent over the last 10 weeks without a stinker

Anyone still rolling with Jason Hanson?

I'm thinking of finally making the switch, after using him this whole season. DET seems to have given up, and I'm worried that if ATL picks up a big lead, DET will stop settling for FGs mid-way through the 3rd or in short 4th down situations.

Here are the kickers available on my wire. Any advice on who I should pick up?

Graham Gano (OAK)

Dan Carpenter (BUF)

Adam Viniateri (@KC)

Also,

Shane Suisham (CIN)

Josh Brown (@PIT)

Althuogh I'm worried how weather will affect the CIN vs. PIT game.

weather forecast right now shows partly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain.I like Carpenter for some reason out of that group.

Connor Barth at home this week vs the Rams? Dude was money for me until two weeks ago when the wheels came off the Tampa O. Not sure I can trust him anymore, though Vegas is projecting three FGs and two TDs for them.

Do you have a link for that Vegas info? I'd be interested to check it out.

http://www.betus.com.pa/sportsbook/nfl-football-game-lines.aspxTampa -3, with an O/U of 43.5.That means they are projecting a final score of approximately:Tam 23, StL 20

Or Tam 24, StL 20, which would mean 3 TDs and 1 FG... Not nearly as good for Barth.

Gano should do well this week.

I'm going with Seattle's kicker - can't spell his name without looking it up. Decent past couple weeks - Seattle should move the ball against SF but stall in red zone - more FG than TD. Bonus is it’s the last game of the week (SNF game, there is no MNF) so I can sweat it out to the bitter end. No work Monday morning either.

I'm liking Legatron this week at Tampa.
:X Dude has 2 XP's in Weeks 14 and 15 combined. St. Louis 31st in the NFL in red zone opportunities per week. Translation: He's just not getting the opportunities to hit FG's that are makeable. My link

Rolling with Forbath, Redskins 8th with 3.4 opportunities a week, and the 1-7 kickers in the category should be rostered. Should get down there a good bunch vs. the Eagles. As previously mentioned, hopefully they hold so he gets looks down there.

See Post 10. :)
Hauschka dominated the Bills in Toronto. I think Carpenter destroys the Bills in Miami this week.

Kickers are so annoying to figure out... because you know one of these guys available (or even the guy on your roster) is going to put up like 20 points or something lol.

I'm not big on Hauschka. The 49ers Defense has something to prove this week after getting dominated by NE. I just don't see a lot of points being scored in that game. Seattle has been feasting off the bottom dwellers the last two games.

The 49ers dont give up many points to kickers.

Even though I got through Tynes' -1 last week, I think I'll just roll with him regardless.
I went with Gano instead. Of course I have to start Eli this week so that was a factor because I didn't want to be too invested in the Giants offense after last week. The thing with Tynes is he has been missing chip shots lately, combine that with the Giants shaky looking offense and I'm not confident about him. Gano certainly won't get a 0 against the Raiders I just have to hope the Raiders can hold them to couple of field Goals but I'll take the guaranteed 4 or 5 points and hope for more.

Surprised to see the SF kicker as low as #20.Also Oak K seems high considering the pointspread (could be blown out?)

Kickers can be so fluky and often impossible to rank. I haven't seen any "experts" touting Hauschka this week because the matchup on paper doesn't appear to be a good one for scoring. But I think this is the type of matchup where a kicker can really thrive. Two good defenses but the offenses are both rolling and good enough to move the ball which should create the opportunity for FG opportunities. I have Bailey in a league and while I love his matchup vs. the Saints I could also see the Cowboys scoring a lot of TDs in that game, lowering his potential value. I'm not saying he should be benched but sometimes the high-scoring games don't work out as well for kickers because it's all about extra points.

Bottom line, though, is picking the right fantasy kicker is often like throwing darts at a wall and hoping one of them sticks. There's often no science to it. Just gotta hope the guy you go with has some good luck that day.

Ugh, I hate kickers. I'm probably going with the "safe" Shayne Graham, rather than trying to guess which teams will stall out in FG range. I've been burned too many times by teams falling behind and then going for it on 4th down repeatedly.

This is why I had to move on from Jason Hanson after using him all season (and enduring his mediocre 10-week run). DET seems to have given up and they almost always fall behind early. ATL will most likely go up early in Saturday's game, and Schwartz seemingly never hesitates to go for it on 4th down once the second half beginsI'm really leaning towards Kai Forbath or Graham Gano.As far as Dan Carpenter is concerned, for some reason BUF does not allow many FGs. I've owned their defense all season, and it is usually a result of them allowing their opponent to score 90% of the time they enter the redzone (sad story). Not really sure about SEA kicker either. Prior to the last two weeks (against the cream of the crop scrub teams), he has been mediocre. I don't know how I feel about trotting him out there against the 49ers. It's a home game, so maybe things will continue to go in the Seahawks' favor.

The way Wilson is playing and how well he plays at home, yes I do. I think Hauschka has a good chance to get 2-3 FG attempts Sunday night. He had two FGs in the first game against the 49ers and Seattle's offense is playing at a much higher level now thanks to Wilson.

Am I losing it or is the kickermania link going to last week's sheet?
Yeah it is. I'm sure they'll notice soon. Herman's rankings are up though, Kai Forbath is #1.
:excited:
Thanks to you guys, I was ahead of the curve and picked up Forbath last night (before we knew where Herman would have him). :thumbup:That said, he had Barf #1 last week :unsure:And I'm also  how I feel about fielding a starting lineup containing 3-4 Redskins (RGIII, Garcon, Forbath, and Washington D). Feels like a :tfp: waiting to happen...
