1st seven picks of the 2007 NFL Draft (1 Viewer)

Raider Nation

Devil's Advocate
1) JaMarcus Russell QB LSU - Oakland Raiders

2) Calvin Johnson WR Georgia Tech - Detroit Lions

3) Joe Thomas OL Wisconsin - Cleveland Browns

4) Gaines Adams DE Clemson - Tampa Bay Buccaneers

5) Levi Brown OT Penn St. - Arizona Cardinals

6) LaRon Landry DB LSU - Washington Redskins

7) Adrian Peterson RB Oklahoma - Minnesota Vikings

I don't know if the Redskins would have taken Peterson if they had a do over. Obviously with Portis and Betts RB wasn't a necessity and the fans seem to like Landry. Maybe they would've traded down instead to get something extra.

Benson goes 4th overall and AP goes 7th. Not an exact science to be sure.
I still believe AD fell due in large part to the collarbone. It wasn't right at the time and taking an injured player has a weird psychological effect. No matter how good the player is, no matter how many doctors say that the injury will be healed in time, teams still downgrade the player if they are injured at the time of the draft. Of course, even if AD is 100% im not sure Oakland, Detroit, or Cleveland would have talked themselves into taking him. Tampa might have. Arizona should have.It will be a while before we see another RB like Peterson come down the pike. He was special from was day one, looked like an NFL RB as a true freshman.

Agreed. The fanbase (including myself) would have lynched St. Joe and co. at the time, and would again today if they jumped in a time booth and re-did it, backfield fumbles and injury included. Speaking for the whole town, we wanted and needed Amobi Okoye, badly (how's he doing? Don't follow IDP). Though we could have and still do need a WR... Sorry to hijack the thread since I know this was a veiled All Day slurpfest!

No doubt the injury caused him to fall. There were even concerns lingering into training camp.I remember one of my mocks had AP going to Arizona*. They blew it with that pick.(*Of course, I think I had everyone going to every team at one time or another. )

:bowtie: As often is the case, Mssr Bloom, you speak truth.

If it wasn't for that collarbone, he goes earlier, tho I think the Raiders might have still gone QB.

The Cardinals also have 2 injured quarterbacks already. Offensive line has been a problem there for years, and they needed to do something to address it. Again, I think they took the guy they needed, not the best available. They probably could've traded down and still gotten Levi Brown, who was probably the right player to take.

I'd say that the Skins made the right pick with Landry for sure.
Agreed 100%. Its rare that a safety can come in and play as a rookie from the start of the season in the secondary. Usually 1st round rookies get toasted quite often. Landry has been very solid on D thus far.

This is how I think it would look --

1) JaMarcus Russell QB LSU - Oakland Raiders - they wouldn't change a thing - I think they liked Jordan and needed a long term QB

2) Calvin Johnson WR Georgia Tech - Detroit Lions Might have been tempted, but still felt KJ is their guy

3) Joe Thomas OL Wisconsin - Cleveland Browns I liked they went Oline - I think they needed an RB - tho Wright and harrison might be fine - but I think you might have seen them draft AD here, had the collarbone not been a factor

4) Gaines Adams DE Clemson - Tampa Bay Buccaneers Yeah, as much as I like Adams, even more the wrong pick - but who knew Caddy would still be in the shop?

5) Levi Brown OT Penn St. - Arizona Cardinals They needed Oline help - might argue they still do. Right pick. Plus, they have Edge, whome they locked up for a few years.

6) LaRon Landry DB LSU - Washington Redskins As has been stated - they have their RBs

7) Adrian Peterson RB Oklahoma - Minnesota Vikings No need to rehash - a steal given how he slipped.

When it comes down to it, I don't think much changes. OAK might go for AD, but they needed a Qb of the future badly. Would Millen have pulled the trigger - possibly - he did go best player available with Johnson. I think CLE might most regret the choice, but they have needed to shore the OL up forever. (injuriesd have plagued them for a while there)

I think CLE and TB might change their picks quickest...

Just my .02
