20 NFL teams will miss the playoffs (1 Viewer)

Raider Nation

Devil's Advocate
Very simple. 20 teams miss the playoffs. Give me half of them.

The ten "sure bets to fail" in your mind.

I'll go with....

- Buffalo

- New England

- Cleveland

- Jacksonville

- Kansas City

- Tampa Bay

- St. Louis

- Detroit

- Chicago (Martz factor)

- Arizona (Leinart factor)

We'll revisit this in early January.

BUF, DEN, OAK, CLE, JAX

WAS, DET, SEA, STL, TB

If you only want 10, here is 5 from each conference.

I'll try and start with most obvious. Here goes nothing.

Buffalo: No QB, Impossible division

St Louis: Rookie QB

Tampa Bay: 2 Rookie Wideouts and a young team overall

Cleveland: Jake Delhomme/Seneca Wallace/ Colt mcCoy

Detroit: Not this year, love this team for the future but they're in a tough conference.

Jacksonville: Were close last year but fell away, I think every other team has got better and they have probably stayed the same.

Denver: I expect more of the 2nd half of last year than the first.

Seattle: If everything clicks they could do ok but they're still very weak at a number of positions, easy division though I think it's SF's.

Chicago: No OL, new system.

Kansas City: Not yet, I like what they're doing though.

EDIT TO EXPAND ON REASONS

1. Detroit

2. Cleveland

3. St Louis

4. Washington

5. Tampa Bay

6. Kansas City

7. Denver

8. Arizona

9. Buffalo

10. Oakland

I will go with this ten:

Buffalo

Kansas City

Denver

Cleveland

Oakland

Detroit

Seattle

St. Louis

Carolina

Tampa Bay

For Sure

Buffalo Bills

Pittsburgh Steelers

Cleveland Browns

Jacksonville Jaguars

Denver Broncos

Kansas City Chiefs

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Arizona Cardinals

Seattle Seahawks

St. Louis Rams

Do I get a bonus if I throw down the other 10?

Miami Dolphins

Cincinnati Bengals

Tennessee Titans

San Diego Chargers

Philadelphia Eagles

New York Giants

Washington Redskins

Chicago Bears

Detroit Lions

Carolina Panthers

Buffalo

Cleveland

Denver

Kansas City

Washington

Detroit

St. Louis

Seattle

Arizona

Tampa Bay

My original list had 13 teams the last 3 cut were

Chicago - Steelers - Raiders

Some pretty bold predictions here. New England or Pittsburgh? They're two of the most successful franchises of the 21st century.

My predictions:

1) Buffalo - they don't have a QB. They don't have an offensive line. They don't have a D. What do they have? Several RBs, mainly

2) St Louis - still in the midst of massive rebuilding project, with a rookie QB

3) Cleveland - hard to see them turning it round so quick with Delhomme at QB

4) Arizona - it's not only Leinart, they also lost Boldin, Dansby and Rolle

5) Tampa - just too much of a leap with such young starters

6) Carolina - lost too many good players, can't see it with their QBs and weakened D

7) Denver - were found out in the 2nd half of the season, both offensively and defensively

8) Oakland - Jason Campbell's an upgrade, but I don't think they're going to the promised land

9) Detroit - they'll be better, they just won't be playoff team better

10) Seahawks - have a shot if Hasselbeck stays healthy, don't think he will though

10 teams? I'll try one from each division and two "non-wildcard" teams.

Buffalo Bills

Cleveland Browns

Jacksonville Jaguars

Oakland Raiders

Philadelphia Eagles

Detroit Lions

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

St. Louis Rams

Arizona Cardinals

Indianapolis Colts

Philly was the only difficult call, but all 4 can't make it and I might be crazy but I like Washington this year. Even after listing them I don't like the call but will stick with it.

Indy - Super Bowl losers and next year's playoffs. FWIW, I'm avoiding Peyton this year.

I'm surprised Jacksonville is on almost every list. Obviously I'm a  but they did compete for a spot last year with a lot of rookies playing significant roles. You'd expect those rookies to be better this year. The biggest flaw with the team last year was a non-existent pass rush and they addressed that by drafting 4 linemen and signing Kampman. They added Morrison to shore up their LBers.

I'm not saying I would put them on a lock list to make the playoffs, but I don't understand selecting them as one of the 10 least-likely to be there.

Bold. And I'm guessing lonely.

They were my last and toughest selection but the strength of schedule and the strength of their division were the biggest factors for me. I expect them to be improved team, just not sure how much their record will reflect that improvement.

Washington, Detroit, Tampa Bay, St. Louis, Seattle, Buffalo, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Kansas City, New York Giants

1. Buffalo

2. St. Louis

3. Tampa Bay

4. Kansas City

5. Carolina

6. Giants

7. Pittsburgh

8. Cleveland

9. Chicago

10. Seattle

Washington - too strong of a division

Detroit - getting there though

Jacksonville - lacks punch in a division that you need some

KC - does this really need explanation

Buffalo - more like a CFL team

St. Louis - if they could only get a team before S Jax retires

Cleveland - no QB

TB - not enough firepower

Sea - getting older and no better

Arizona - too many losses to withstand at least for one year

AFC East - Bills

AFC North - Browns

AFC South - Jags

AFC West - Chiefs

NFC East - Redskins

NFC North - Lions - Bears

NFC South - Tampa Bay - Panthers

NFC West - Rams

I wanted to pick them but I had a couple better options. I think what everyone is thinking is that 1- Garrard is still the QB and 2- DelRio is still the coach. With a healthy O line they could be much improved along with the pass rush but it is a killer division with 3 other solid teams

Liquid Tension says these 10 teams will miss the playoffs

Washington

Detroit

St. Louis

Seattle

Buffalo

Cleveland

Oakland

Kansas City

Denver

Jacksonville

The last one for me was either Jacksonville, Pittsburgh or Carolina (possibly Tennessee but I like Fisher)

That's the issue. All of the four teams each in the AFC South and NFC East could probably win most other divisions. But at least one of each won't make the playoffs. Honestly, that could be any team in the division, including my Titans. FWIW I'm surprised more people haven't picked the Titans, I almost did.

So you have Oakland winning the West? :homer:

I agree it is a competitive division but they are well above the crap that comes out of the West

1. Buffalo

2. Cleveland

3. Houston

4. Detroit

5. Chicago

6. Tampa

7. St. Louis

8. Seattle

9. Washington

10. Arizona

And that was much more difficult than I anticipated. Loaded up on NFC teams.

I have to call it like I see it. I'm assuming you think SD is still going to win it, I just don't know how many players they can lose & keep winning.

#5 cleveland

#6 washington

#7 buffalo

#8 seattle

#9 carolina
