4.10 58 Carolina Connection (Joeklezie) Boldin, Anquan ARI WR Tue Jul 26 9:48:34 p.m. ET 2005 I probably should have went with Wayne instead of Burleson now that I am making this pick(I was eyeballing Ward). I'm putting all my faith in potential but I think it will pan out.

Sorry to hijack here alittle but if you could redo last year's top 10 rookie draft, how would it look?for me it would goBushMaroneyAddai D-WillyColstonJones DrewYoungLeinartDavisCutler
Still way too much hype on Bush. I think the top 3 should be MJD, Addai and Colston (no necessarilly in that order). 4 and 5 would be Maroney/Young. Cutler at 6 and the rest are 7-10. Maroney is still going to be contending with Dillon IMO in 2007. Addai will not contend with anybody except Wayne, Clark and Harrison around the goalline. Colston is the real deal and should be for quite a long time. MJD cracked the top 10 while playing beside a guy who had 1400 total yards and 6 TD's. Young is going to be a hella fantasy QB. Maroney will be there at RB as well, but it will take a bit longer....Cutler getting handed the job in Denver will make him a solid producer. The rest I'm not so sure about. I'm still not sire Bush can run between the tackles. RBBC worked pretty well this year. I see no reason why it won't next year. Davis was injured most of the season. Lienert has no line but great weapons. And DeAngelo hasn't shown me enough yet to put the stud status on him compared to the potential I see in the guys I have placed ahead of him....

we all have our opinions and as usual we differ on most of these.

Thank you Jeff, Yes 2006 just rookie draft 4 rounds.Whens the best time to have your dynasty draft? besides after everyone pays
Dynasty owners are an antsy bunch. They want to draft YESTERDAY.After the NFL draft, they'll be Jonesing to pick some new blood.Don't have the draft before the NFL draft, but any time after that is a viable answer. If you have a league where you have veterans after the rookies (a second set of picks), stagger them. The direct answer is likely anytime you want between May and August, although most will be in the May/June timeframe.

I took a look at a few of the revised top ten lists posted above. I'm a bit surprised by how quick everyone has been to disregard LenDale White. He had a decent year for a backup who was hampered by injuries. I won't go as far as saying he's better than guys like Maroney or Addai, but he certainly appeared to have comparable talent coming out college. I took another look at his highlights last night and came away impressed. He has good acceleration and is nimble for such a big back. I'm excited to see what he might do with an expanded workload.

In terms of risk vs. reward, I think White is clearly the best 2006 rookie RB to target in trades right now. He offers similar talent to the top tier of rookies at a fraction of the cost. You can't beat that.

I think a lot of it depends on scoring format. In a PPR, I think Bush is a much better long-term play than all of these guys (although MJD is also a viable option). I disagree that he's overhyped. He was a flat out phenomenal prospect and he made a major impact in year one. It's difficult to compare his stats directly with those of guys like Addai and Drew because Bush was probably game-planned against from day one, whereas the other two had the luxury of sneaking up on teams. In a non-PPR? Different story. I'm not sure if Bush will ever be a great TD threat. He could be the next Tiki Barber. Or he could be the next Warrick Dunn. It really depends on how the coaches decide to use him, which is something that's difficult to predict. I think Bush is the best back from his draft, but I also like Maroney and MJD in non-PPR leagues. I'm not a huge believer in Addai despite his strong rookie year. He'll have to show me another good season before I trust him. I think DeAngelo and LenDale are question marks. Both could be great. Both could disappear. As mentioned, I really like White as a buy low candidate. It's clear that he's flying below the radar. In a TD-heavy league, he could be a beast.

If used properly, I think Bush could consistently put up Brian Westbrook-esque numbers (he reminds me a lot of Westbrook) and I'm sure no Bush owner would complain about that.

Don't worry about it EBF. The fanatic didn't like Reggie coming into the year and then he didn't see alot of him this year. The last couple of weeks after slowing down alittle and being more patient we saw a superstar in the making. Will he ever be a 25 carry type back..... maybe not........ and you know what I say to that "WHO CARES". He doesn't need to be. Put the ball in this guys hands 15-20 times a game and I think he'll exceed Westbrook's #'s. He put up some serious scoring down the stretch run. I think it is a only a glimpse of what he will give his owners in the future. That's why I have him still #1.

All 3 of my dynasty leagues start the sunday after the NFL draft. But I have been a proponet (for 1 league) of having the Dynasty rookie draft before the NFL draft.I have never done it before, but I think it would be interesting to see a group of HIGHLY skilled owners (which include several FBG staffers) draft based solely on players skills and potential... without the "oppourtunity factor."

A win again ov said:
Thank you Jeff, Yes 2006 just rookie draft 4 rounds.

Whens the best time to have your dynasty draft? besides after everyone pays :lmao:
Our draft is rookie and veteran free agents. It is a 12 owner dynasty league with IDPs. We held the first two rounds in early June and the last two rounds in late August. I set the draft up this way because right after the NFL draft people are hyped to get their first few picks in but over the course of the summer, after training camp reports come out, a few injuries change the landscape, rookie holdouts, etc et al, the excitement builds over the summer for the last two round which normally would be throw aways if held earlier in the summer before training camp/preseason etc. So when looking at this draft keep in mind that the first two rounds were held in early June and the last two rounds were held in late August after all preseason games had been played.

The 2003 draft was the first rookie/vet free agent draft that we conducted and the point totals after the names show the points from the picks from the 2003 season. Breaking up the draft into two segments is a great tip. It keeps interest peaked for the entire summer and makes for a better and more exciting overall draft for the owners in your league. I would suggest you try that if you were looking for successful draft ideas.
