Hagen would seem to be really nice value. Hester is talented. I missed Jennings entirely.

I guess my point was (following up on my earlier post), with Ko, Bing, Wright etc still on the board why wouldn't the Niners (whpo obviously have holes all over the place) go D in the third and *then* grab a WR when they 16 picks later? You figure NFL teams are cold blooded about getting value for their picks, but I suppose if they fall in love with a player they'll grab 'em anyway. They must've had Brandon Williams among the top half dozen or so WRS on their board.

Jerry Angelo should call Marv Levy and thank him...because were it not for the Bills debacle the Bears would be having this year's worst draft in a big, big way :X

I don't like the Bills draft, but I still think they may have done better than the Bears. Close call though.

The Yobouty pick may give the Bils a slight edge over Chicago...but you can't be happy with the way this day has turned out I would imagine.

Youboty slipping saved their draft and mightly made up for their disaster with the 2nd pick.Chicago easily get an "F".

That probably means Favre won't go out with a winning record, but they're going to be looking somewhat decent in 2007 if these guys pan out as projected.

Oy. I don't know about Dallas. Parcells was too busy putting his staff together after Payton left and he left the scouting operation to JJ and his band of monkeys. Parcells was totally hands on last year and they rocked. He took his hands off this year and it really shows. I give them an F or a G.Hatcher is interesting, but he's not a need and they could have had him in the 5th or 6th.

The biggest problem I have with their draft is they filled a minor need at OLB and then draft two players at suggested areas of strength (DE and TE). Feel free to blow smoke about a 2 TE formation, etc, but I don't like it.

I agree. Including the free agents, they have taken solid players that have demonstrated playability rather than focusing on stats. The defensive guys all are know for being good tacklers - which was a real weakness last year.

As an NFC East guy, I'm pretty giddy about the way Day One went down. All three other division rivals made splashes in free agency but they all failed to address tangible needs today. Washington gave up way too much to get McIntosh, New York added a mini returner when they already have a very good return game, and a DE when they already have the two best DEs in the division AND a very productive 2nd year man in J. Tuck. Meanwhile Dallas seems to have fallen back into Jerry Jones' sole control.

Even if the Bills made some big reaches for both 1st round picks...they seem like quality players. Reaching for a good player isn't always a bad thing.Last year, everyone (myself included) was ripping the Seahawks for their move up to draft Tatupu and look how that worked out. If the Lions really wanted Whitner, maybe they had to take him there.

Anyway, I'm not happy. But, I'm hoping that I'm wrong, which is entirely possible.

He went at least a round too early. I don't know how many non-3-4 teams even had him on their draft boards.

Green Bay has two picks in the first 12 tomorrow so they should be able to add a couple of very good players.Cleveland also has the 13 and 15 picks in the 4th round. Too bad they blew the Travis Wilson pick.

Re: Bills draft grade vs Bears... yeah, the Bills reached on those 1st two pix, but at least they did end the day with three guys who can step in and help them fairly quickly.

The Bears on the other hand could easily find thier picks blowing up in their face. Hester seems a pretty good bet to make a name on special teams.

I've asked here there and everywhere why Sinorice Moss is perceived so much higher than Willie Reid. Reid is bigger faster, more productive as a receiver, and the 2nd best returner in the draft (Drew #1). Reid was a team leader, the offensive MVP at FSU. Pittsburgh isn't messing around today. IF one player didn't fill the need, they just increased their chances with another. Solid.

Sort of reminds me of Tennessee last year, only Pittsburgh is doing it better.Just in case Holmes doesn't pan out, Reid might.

King is a solid TE that can block and catch the ball down the seam, plus get open in the end zone. Humes can pound the ball inside and out and has a high tolerance for pain (missed just one game with a broken arm).

As a Cowboy fan I couldn't agree with you more. Gocong is an unknown, but there's few players who want it more and will work harder than him. He's a mini-beast and will be great on special teams if nothing else. No pretentions, happy to have the work, going to carve out a nice high paying place for himself, and that's the downside. Bunkley fell into their laps and really toughens them up. I'm still unable to discuss Justice to Philly in the 2nd... just makes me sick in the stomach. The rest of the division basically punted today.

Loved the Pats draft after 2 picks. Maroney and Jackson falling to them really got me excited. I actually called the Pats trading up in the 2nd round but thought it would have been to get Richard Marshall.

I know hindsight is 20/20 but I think I would have been happier if they took Maroney in the 1st, stood pat in the 2nd and got Richard Marshall and took Maurice Stovall with 1 3rd round pick and they still would have had another 3.

I'd guess most fans don't know who these guys are but Hodge is comparable to Greenway and to get him in the 3rd is a steal. Jennings went a little higher than I thought he needed to go, but I considered him the SOD. Spitz isn't a big name but he's versatile (C or G) and has the ability to start this year. The fans should be ecstatic.

I am. We've likely gotten at least 4 starters out of this draft already.

I read a lot of the interviews after the draft about Jackson...I think the Pats really wanted him, but were trying to keep it low key.If the Pats had not done the trade, everything else being equal, Marshall would have been there at their pick. I just did not see them taking him.

The Dave Thomas Pick is the surprise for me. I think they could have gotten him at 106 or 118. I don't think he was high on many draft boards. At #86 I think the Pats should have gotten Darnell Bing.
