Some interesting picks in here. Definitely some that I bet a lot of people here would disagree with.

Not bad

but they still assume Philly trades their pick when a DB is now available.

Det probably goes with J. Thomas. The line is the problem not the RB

And I like how Posluzney falls past Harris because he broke his arm.

Lots of better fits though.

Still hate SI

the thought behind an exercise like this is to reproject the draft based on "what we know now". if NFL teams knew Posluszny was going to break his arm and miss most of the season, it's not crazy to think Harris would get drafted ahead of him. Harris has looked awesome since entering the Jets starting lineup.I agree that Thomas and Peterson look like the top-2 choices in this draft.

The Packers should have selected Reggie Nelson if they were going to stay at their spot in the real draft or this one.

LAUNCH

I stopped at #1 :towelwave:
I didn't however, but a Kicker in the 1st Rd????
Yeah, that's definitely a little silly. This is a little silly justification as well:

Oakland Raiders

CALVIN JOHNSON, WR Georgia Tech

Original pick: JaMarcus Russell, QB, LSU

While Adrian Peterson has been the clear-cut rookie of the year, the Raiders have the fourth-ranked running game with emerging fifth-year vet Justin Fargas. An upgrade in the receiving ranks is still needed, and given JaMarcus Russell's lost year, taking the freakishly gifted Johnson would have been the wiser pick.
Johnson was a wiser pick because he played in his first year? Are we drafting players now for one year of production? If so, then yeah everyone should draft a RB first because they're going to make the most immediate contribution. Oakland still had a need at franchise QB unless you think Daunte is going to really rebound (which doesn't look like the case) and McCown is not a franchise QB. Carson rode the bench for an entire year and he seems to have turned out fine for that organization...

maybe he only broke his arm because Buffalo drafted him :towelwave: I see the point, I think leaving the traded picks in place is kind of dumb though. Doubt that Cleveland trades up for A. Sears

Looking retrospect...SI was more on target than the NFL scouts. SI had Bowe at #7 and Ginn way down at #20. Dolphins took Ginn Jr. and I'll bet they wish they had Bowe now. (I wish I would have seen SI's picks...I drafted Ginn Jr. in dynasty rookie draft and had a shot at Bowe...I figured the NFL scouts have more insider knowledget than Kiper, us footballguys forum goons etc. I guess I was wrong.

Bears -

I've never been a big fan of the Olsen pick. I think he'll be a damn good TE, but I just didn't think that was the need at the time. Both Gilmore and Clark had good years in 2006 and for the first time since I can remember, TE didn't seem like a weakness for this team.

Glaring need for the Bears at the time was DT, its just a shame there wasn't one there.

Alan Branch out of Michigan was the only one who was considered a pick worthy of going that high, but there was a lot of talk about him leading up to the draft that he wasn't a hard worker and would be a problem. He went a couple of picks later and has been predictibly useless this year for Arizona. So not taking a stab at him was a good move.

Going into draft day, here was the Bears DT situation

Tommie Harris was coming off a season ending injury and while he came back fine, in regards to that injury, the depth at the position was destined to be a big problem going into 2008.

It was safe to assume that they would be without Tank for the first half of the seson if the suspension wasn't already handed out. This only got worse as he pulled his faux DUI in June and got flat out released.

Ian Scott and Alfonso Boone were both UFA's at the time and both ended up leaving.

That was about it for the depth at the position in 2006, a strong suit on this team when everyone was healthy. Sadly, everyone they have used at DT has gone down in a heap in 2007. Dvoracek, Adams, Walker, Harris have all been banged up or flat out lost for the season and they just lost Garay who I don't even think was on the opening day roster.

Other focus had to be O Line. Average age of the starting O-line for week 1 was north of 30 and they were all coming off of a 19 game season.

Hopefully this all plays out in a couple of years and Olsen justifies being the best player availble.
