If the All Star game winner gets home field advantage for the WS, why does every team have to be represented? Makes no sense. I have no problem with the every team gets a player rule if it was simply an exhibition game with no meaning.

AL fans are #######. Pedroia should be at home staring at his AL MVP trophy wondering where his skills went. Instead, he's the starting 2B in the All Star Game. :wall: :wall:

Not sure how they can make the all star game meaningful but the world series hfa is a horrible idea. Maybe the MLB should eliminate all star bonuses in contracts and make the all star game a winner takes all proposal. Whatever the number to make it worthwhile (200K per player maybe), give each player on the winning team the money and the losing team's players get nothing.

If they must decide HFA during the regular season, they should have it be determined by the overall interleague record.

Josh Hamilton: .240, 6 HR, 24 RBI :lmao:
No problem with this. He is the greatest comeback story in baseball and the fans want to see him do well. The all star game should remain in the fans hands while also allowing for the truly deserving players to be rewarded. The present system of selection is probably as good as it can be IMO.

A. Jones was a weak selection. Just put Sherrill in and get rid of Fuentes. Free up a spot for someone more deserving. Not that I think Sherrill is necessarily more deserving then Fuentes it's just not as bad as A. Jones getting selected.

mark reynolds deserves to be a NL All-Star. No 2 ways about it. I'd have taken him instead of Gonzalez or Howard.

If fans do the right thing, Kinsler will be the final AL player (although I admit Figgins deserves consideration) and Reynolds will make it for the NL. Dude strikes out but has displayed both power and speed this year. he warrants a spot, no doubt about it.

Inge deserves it a little bit more for his gold glove defense and higher OPS but Kinsler is a close second IMO. It is hard to say anyone other than Reynolds in the NL.

Gonzalez is the 2nd best hitter in the game right now. He deserves to be an all star on a much higher level than Reynolds.
Reynolds has a better average, same number of HR, more RBI and runs scored and somehow has 13 steals. Granted, Gonzalez hits in a worse offense, but Gonzalez v. Reynolds is debatable. As for Gonzalez being the 2nd best hitter in the game right now: NO.

must be a really weak year at 3b for Inge to be considered.

PETCO is a power killer. Any objective look at Gonzalez shows that if not in PETCO, he would be challenging Pujols. He hits the ball more consistently and drives the ball more often than 99% of the league right now.

He has a higher OPS than Michael Young, the same OPS as Longoria last year, and that OPS would have placed him in the top 2 AL 3B end of year in three other years since 2001. He isn't a superstar by any means but when you add his superb defense, he has as much a claim as Kinsler who is 3rd in AL 2B OPS.

Adrian Gonzalez deserves to be there just as much as anybody but Pujols as Albert is heads and shoulders above anyone else right now. Adrian Gonzalez left off the ticket for Mark Reynolds? Boy am I glad you don't make the decisions.

Gonzalez numbers, even adjusted for Petco, don't put him at top 10 let alone top 3.Pujols, Morneau, Fielder are all ahead of him at 1B. Throw in Utley, H Ramirez, and a handful of OFs and he slides even further. Is he a great hitter? Yes, but lets not get carried away.

Gonzalez is 4th in baseball in away OPS and he is 11th in baseball in overall OPS. I may have spoken too highly when placing him 2nd. But he is easily a top ten hitter this year and to compare him to Reynolds is a joke.

Gonzalez OPS+ numbers (which is adjusted for park) place him 4th in all of baseball, only behind Pujols, Fielder, and Mauer.Definitely top ten so far this year.

As much bashing as he gets annually he is a huge reason why we're in first right now. He's hitting for power, taking walks, and his avg has actually been acceptable, add the gold glove defense and he has a pretty damn good case for making the team. That said, if he gets offered a spot I hope he declines to participate and chooses to rest his balky knee instead.
