2009 San Diego Padres race to 100 losses (1 Viewer)

Yesterday's opening day 4-1 loss to the Dodgers essentially eliminates the Padres from NL West contention. Therefore, I'll likely be spending my summer looking for signs of optimism from Chase Headley, Will Venable, Nick Hundley, and Kyle Banks.

CY was terrible this spring, hopefully he turns it around tonight and shuts down BLUE.

You know what's worse than bad and boring? An empty minor-league system.

Enjoy the next 10 years of 65-win baseball. Maybe you can go across the street and hijack Strausburg.

I have to agree with all of this. This team stinks.

The fact that they are favorites vs the Dodgers tonight is nuts.

yes but are they worse than the pirates?any chance a. gonzalez gets traded to make room for blanks?
always a chance, but Adrian is revered in SD, for good reason. He grew up playing ball in Chula Vista and Tijuana, so he's more valuable to San Diego than any other MLB franchise. Smart money is on Peavy getting dealt, and Adrian being a Padre for life. Banks is supposedly going to take balls in LF and occasionally play out there this season. Pads would love for Kouz to get hot so they could deal him for pitching and move Headley back to 3rd.

Current NL West Standings:

Colorado Rockies

San Diego Padres

Arizona Diamondbacks

San Francisco Giants

Los Angeles Dodgers

;)

5-2, what an outstanding start to the season. Starting pitching exceeding expectations, the bullpen looks improved, and Eckstein doing wonders for the offense.

Decent chance that this is the best week the Pads have all season, but it sure is nice to get off to a nice start to keep things interesting for a few months for us Padre fans.
