1-2-3 1st inning for Hellickson (who might be top pitching prospect still in minors -- Although Teheran has a strong argument too), striking out Alonso on a change to finish inning.

Simon Castro (SD) hits Desmond Jennings to lead off inning, and DJ scores on Domonic Brown (who later in inning leaves game with tweaked right hamstring) infield single.

Dee Gordon (who reached via walk) scored 2nd run on Eric Hosmer bloop single.

US leads 2-0 after one inning.

World team gets one back on Wilin Rosario (COL) fielder's choice, scoring C. Peguero (who reached on single). Moustakas made a tremendous play on the ball and nearly started an incredible double play. For a guy who is regarded as a below average fielder, Moustakas has looked pretty good so far today.

Of note, to me, so far:

Mike Trout insanely fast.

Zack Britton's sinker is as good as advertised

Brett Lawrie has incredible bat speed.

Wilin Rosario has an incredible arm behind the plate.

Editing to add:

Julio Teheran has a tremendous change-up.

US wins 9-1.

MVP: Hank Conger (playing in home ballpark), even though Eric Hosmer (KC) was probably more deserving - 4-for-5 with 2 Runs Scored and 2 RBI

anyone else notice how skinny a couple of these guys looked? dee gordon, the guy from the nationals in particular. my god. eat a sandwich.

the one catcher for the world team (rosorio or something) had an absolute cannon for an arm.
