Private H2H league with snake draft and weekly win/loss/draw scoring rather than cumulative points.

Basic rules

15 man rosters = 2 keepers, 5 defense, 5 midfield, 3 forwards

GBP100M salary cap (but that's unlikely to be a big issue given the talent distribution by draft)

Various starting formations allowed

Maximum three players from any real EPL club

House rules from last year (open for debate)

1. 14 team snake draft. Initial draft order to be determined randomly. You have to play game week 1 with the players you drafted (unless a late transfer pushes you over the 3 players per EPL team limit)

2. Transfers start game week 2

3. Any player in the world of soccer is eligible to be drafted. You're free to speculate on transfer rumors to your heart's content but you must specify position at the time of the selection and have an open spot at that position. Pricing will be determined by the official site. You're still bound by the salary cap and the formation requirements of the FPL site. The FPL site is the authoritative source on player positions and values.

3a. If any players you drafted aren't in the site database by Aug 17th (the Friday before game week one), you must replace them with someone from the site database and relinquish exclusive rights to the drafted player. Replacement players are considered non-exclusive

4. All undrafted players eligible for transfers throughout the season. Multiple teams can have the same undrafted player on their roster.

5. All transfers must observe the standard site rules apply (£100M salary cap, 3 players per EPL team, one free transfer/week, second transfer comes with a points penalty)

6. Before game week one, if a player is officially transferred out of the Premier League or if a team has more than three players from an EPL team because of a transfer , the owner will be allowed to replace that player with a supplemental draft pick after the completion of round #15. Draft order will be run in the order of the player dropped. Supplemental draft eligibility is the same as the original player draft. No supplemental picks can be made in the case of injury.

7. Rights to players selected in the pre-season draft belong to the selecting team for the entire season. They cannot be added by any other team during the season even if the player is dropped by the team that originally drafted him.

8. If a player you drafted is injured, suspended or out of form, you can replace him and retain his sole rights. The drop and re-add are subject to the web site's salary cap and transfer limits.

9. Trades of draft picks are allowed after the end of round #2 of the draft.

10. Team to team trades are allowed but are subject to the website's limitations e.g. both teams must remain under salary cap, transactions count against the weekly and season transfer limits.

I don't know if there's a free site this year that supports a draft format closer to American-style fantasy sports. Every site I've seen seems to be salary cap oriented.

 
I might be in if I can get TUP on board with me. I think that site is a no-go at work.

Too bad about the salary cap stuff.

 
Can you bums pick team names so I automatically know whose team it is rather than having to look it up all the time????????????????????????????????????

I don't think salary cap was much of an issue in the draft last year. The draft format makes it impossible to stock up on the high salary playersThe biggest issue is the lack of a waivers process on the site. This makes clones a necessary evil because there's just no way to turn a manual process around, especially during short weeks. The one free transfer per week rule helps limit clones a bit. In the end, it's more important that the rules are fair rather than perfect.
 
We started drafting on July 27th and finished just before the start of the season. Opening fixtures are a few days later this year but we should probably still get moving by the end of the week.

I think we could easily go to 14 teams if we keep the same transfer rules as last year. 16 probably wouldn't be out of the question.

If anyone needs help drafting let me know. I watch around 5 EPL matches a week but have no interest in dealing with that web site. :thumbdown:

Yahoo Espana has a La Liga salary cap league this year. The site is in Spanish and Messi will set you back 47 units of your 100 unit cap.

We're at 14 with the confirmed returning teams and the new owners. I'm going to close the door on new teams for now to give last year's owners a day or so to respond.

On a related subject, it's a long season and a certain level of commitment is needed throughout, if for no other reason than to keep H2H fair. How about $20 to keep people interested?
