2011 -new tier- 4 QB's exceed 4500/30, 8 QB's above 4000/25, Guys that were close,

FBG's FF(ranking) C Newton(5th) 4051/21, rush-706/14 M Sanchez(10) 3474/25 rush 103/6,

M Vick(11) 3303/18 rush 589/1, B Roethlesburger(12) 4077/21, R Fitzpatrick 3832/24.

Vick isn't that close but I included him because of his 11th place finish in FF

2010 -T Brady 3900/35, A Rodgers 3922/28, P Manning 4700/33, M Vick 3018/21, rush-676/9,

P Rivers 4710/30, D Brees 4620/33, J Freeman 3451/25 -rush 364, M Ryan 3705/28

M Schaub 4369/24, E Manning 4002/31, J Flacco 3622/25, C Palmer 3970/26

2009, 10 QBs passed for 4000+/ 25+ TDs, 2 QBs for 3600+/27

2008, 6 QBs passed for 4000+ yds /25+ TDs, Also

McNabb came close with 3900/23, T Romo 3448/26, M Cassel 3693/21

2007, 6 for 4000+ yds/25+, and Hass 3966/28, D Anderson 3787/29, Warner 3409/27

2006, 3 for 4000+/25+ also Bulger 4301/24, Kitna 4208/21

2005, Palmer 3836/32, Brady 4110/26, P Manning 3747/28, Hass 3455/24, E Manning 3762/24

Bledsoe 3639/23, D Brees 3576/24, T Green 4014/17

The 4 QB's D Brees 5746/46 A Rodgers 4643/45, T Brady 5235/39, M Stafford 5038/41.

The other 4 that exceeded 4000/25 E Manning 4910/29, P Rivers 4624/27, T Romo 4184/29,

M Ryan 4177/29

I increased the yardage from 4000 to 4500 since 10 QB's passed for 4000+

We've come a LONG way from 2005 when only one QB hit both marks(Brady),

When a rookie passes for 4051 and 9 others break 4000 yards that number is no

longer elite, Apologies if I get some numbers wrong. 2010 only 5 QB's pass for 4000+

and 2 with 3900+ so when do the defenses catch up?

I voted 3 (in large part due to the 30 TD benchmark) and 10. I also think Josh Freeman has a chance to bounce back but see him more as a 3,500 yards with 20 TD type benchmark.

Guys I think will jump onto the list...

- Alex Smith: Threw for 3,144 and 17 TD last year on a pretty basic offensive gameplan. Has a good shot with the new weapons to go for 4,000 and 20 TD.

- Hasselbeck/Locker Combo: Combined for 4,113 yards and 22 TD last year in a new offensive system that is pretty challenging and pass focused.

- Matt Schaub: Really all about the health factor here.

- Jay Cutler: Probably will hit 3,500 and 20 TD benchmark realistically but if a RB goes down or they are forced to pass a lot, Cutler has a chance to amass yards and Marshall helps.

- Roethlisberger: Had 4,077 and 21 TD last year. Haley is much more pass focused (like Palmer in TEN and McDaniels in NE) and I can see Roethlisberger approaching 4,000+ and 25 TD+ benchmark.

I didn't put a whole lot of thought into this question, but I really like this thread idea. That said, I believe that the numbers won't live up to last year. With the lockout disrupting defensive schemes, top notch QBs that were really, really comfortable in their systems tore the league up, especially early on. I can't see this season going the same way. I would not expect 3 5,000 yard passers again. But I believe there are a lot of quality QBs in the league and if they stay healthy it could still be a banner year for passing.

LOVE Cutler this year.
