2012 Packers Semi-Official In season thread... (1 Viewer)

You guys figure to have the most predictable draft in April.DEFENSEDEFENSEDEFENSEDEFENSEDEFENSEDEFENSE:)
Not quite.Oline needs work too. There will be a WR taken probably around round 3 or so when they lose Jennings.ILB is needed for sure...but the defense is not nearly as bad as they look tonight. They get Bishop and Perry back next year which should be a big help.

We don't need ILB at all - Bishop and DJ Smith back. Hopefully AJ Hawk is finally gone. Bishop, Smith + Brad Jones as backup. WR - sure, why not. D-line and O-line are really the positions we continue to need. As always.

Hawk had a nice year...but sucked tonight and he can't cover.I was not as big on Smith as others. I thought he tackled poorly and sucked almost as bad as Hawk in coverage prior to his injury.Do love Bishop though.Just see TT doing WR with Jennings and Driver gone. Probably a 3rd or 4th rounder where he finds a gem.DL...its needed with Pickett getting on too...did not mention that part. Though, having a 2nd year Worthy healthy is a decent start there.

Hawk is overpaid. And mediocre against anyone other than below-average competition. At least DJ Smith has a modest amount of athleticism.Yeah, we'll grab a WR in the first 3 rounds. Otherwise, just DL and OL.

I agree Hawk is overpaid at this point.OL we agree on...DL as well and probably more LBs and safeties would be nice too.Hell...a TE is probably on the radar when they let Finley go.

They absolutely need ILB's. Bishop is one, Hawk and Smith are average and their depth is garbage. Jones is not good. Quite honestly, they need a legitimate left tackle, a center,an ILB, a prototypical DT (Pickett is old and everyone besides Raji is undersized), a strong safety, a back-up qb and an OLB (maybe it's Perry but he certainly hasn't shown enough yet in his injury shortened year). They could also use another wr and I haven't even mentioned that the rb they leaned on at the end of the year was selling cars 6 weeks ago. Don't get me wrong they have talent. They are a good team but the league is changing. They need speed and aggressiveness on defense. This team is soft. Their lines are average.

Jones is ok depth for a guy just starting to play ILB.He probably played the best on D tonight...not much of a consolation being king of the turds on a night like tonight though.

They gave up 300 yards rushing. So Jones made his tackles 10 yards downfield vs. 15. I get what you're saying. He's assignment sure but he's limited from a talent standpoint. As a 5th linebacker/special teams player, fine. But he isn't even close to the answer to anything on defense

How about Dom Capers ?? Maybe time to move on with him
Gone...at least should be.And jurrassic...that is what Im saying about Jones. I don't want him starting. But cheap depth. And he was one of the few able to make plays on Kaep at least a few times before he got 10 yards downfield...though, obviously did not happen but a few times.

Why would we keep Woodson around at his cost? I mean, at some point we can't afford to pay him $8-10M per year. Does his comp get re-negotiated this year?

Yeah...think he has to be done too.Just too much for what he is offering at this point. They are set as far as coverage at WR. Though, not the most physical bunch. Gone are the days of Woodson and Harris out there in bump and run.

2 years ago their secondary was a concern, now I think it's one of their deepest and youngest position groups. They just need a safety to replace Jennings. I am still clinging to Burnett. Hayward is already better than Woodson in slot coverage but not even close to equally his play at the line of scrimmage. say thaw that in the sack he blew in tonight's game. I would release Woodson and use that money somewhere els.

ThisIf LHUCKS were here he would've said the Packer D looked like a Big 10 team trying to stop an SEC team.

Two glaring issues were evident all season:1. Horrible play from inside linebackers, Just horrible. Is there a less instinctive linebacker in the nfl than AJ Hawk? Guy stands in the same spot running in place until he is either driven out by a lineman, or given a ride by a running back. Get him off the team immediately. Getting Desmond Bishop back will help a lot. It was way too much to expect Brad Jones to be consistent at ILB when they moved him there. He is 10 times better than Hawk, but he was inconsistent. His best spot is on the outside, They don't need to spend $$$$$ here. They need a backer who can maintain his responsibilities and wrap up.2. No push inside. At all. Cullen Jenkins production was never replaced.

Exactly turnovers and giving the 49ers a short field helped them a lot. Also they were missing on the blitz and getting burned, they just didn't ever have someone on the second level and Kaep took advantage of that. Also with Bishop, Perry, Smith all coming back and Richardson coming back in the secondary we need to see how the young guys come along, most of them are rookies except for Bishop.I think the Packers are built pretty well and know there will be turn-over this year, I also know that I trust the Packers front office more than anything. Also the Packers had the most starters miss games compared to any team in the NFL, 49ers were actually first in not having hardly any starters miss time.http://sportige.com/green-bay-packers-the-most-injured-team-in-the-nfl-01-2013/
