*** 2013 Official Philadelphia Eagles - NFC EAST CHAMPS*** (1 Viewer)

I have no fear of Carson Palmer at all.
Agreed. If we can get to him, he's done. They refuse to use Ellington for sone reason so I'm not afraid of their running game at all. On offense, they blitz more than any team in the league. I feel that if they try that against Chip and Nick, they'll pick them apart with the underneath stuff. Chip probably won't shut down the offense too early again after the Washington game.

Anybody hear Mikey Miss yesterday? I've had it! I'm boycotting his show. What a "Stunad" to use Tony Bruno's language. Anyway, Miss and his buddy B-West still will not give props to Foles. Miss went on with yet another rant professing his man love for Cam Netwon. A caller calls in and asks him "what would Foles have to do for you to want him over Newton?" Miss' response--"There's nothing he can do."

What a moron! What if Foles wins a SB? Would that be enough!? I can't understand this town (to be fair though it seems most callers are down with Foles).

By the way, how are RG3 and Luck looking these days? If either of them have had the stretch Foles has had, they'd be in Canton already.

Alright end rant.

Vent bro, vent.. *pats back*

As for this week, I'm kinda scared of Arizona. Hoping the week off and home field will help us. I think it helps that we are staying a 1pm kickoff, Arizona isn't used to playing that early, or in that cold.
Me too. I have a feeling we come back to Earth a bit this week.
I'm not scared as much as I am nervous.

Looking at this objectively though, we should be able to win the game handly IMHO.

-We're pretty hot right now too, in just about every aspect

- 1:00 game for a team coming East

- We're coming off of a bye

- Got the home win off of our back

- We're certainly the best team they've faced since mid-october

Anything I missed?

I know he's set the bar at winning the division for Foles (because if they don't win it, it must be his fault for not getting it done). I would love to ask him if he would have the same standard for any other QB. If they draft one high and get "Kelly's QB", does he have to win the division in the first year or be labelled as can't run Chip's offense?

I can see a big day for Shady in the passing game if Bowles wants to blitz a lot. And the misuse of Ellington has to be one if the weirdest situations in football this season. (especially for fantasy) Mendenhall sucks, but they keep trotting him out there and ignoring the more talented back. Strange.

I don't know why I let myself get worked up about this. I just get so sick of the rampant negativity. From what I can tell, Miss is a pretty sharp guy. He must be playing the role of "sports entertainer". He can't possibly believe what's coming out of his mouth.

Although they are kinda boring, I guess I'll just listen to Gargano and Macknow from now on...

To be fair Mendy has looked a little bit better and has had a rushing TD in 3 or his last 4 games but I agree. Insane that Ellington isn't getting the majority of touches.

Shady should have big yardage for sure.

That's partly Mikeys schtick and part his stubbornness. Hes not a fan of Foles and has said he can't play many times this season. Being proven wrong makes him just set the bar higher for success. He's said he'd be a fool to deny foles if they win the division. We'll see when that happens. Btw, I was watching some of the Car vs Mia game. Cam made some highlight plays at the end but he was pretty pedestrian throughout which is why it was so close. This insistence that kelly NEEDS that type of qb gets disproven each week foles plays yet some just can't accept it. Sure in a vacuum where Kelly can choose any qb currently in the nfl at their current ability level, Cam would probably be up there and Chip would probably take him over Foles. But Cam plays for Carolina and has been in the league for 3 seasons now as a #1 overall pick. I would hope he could win those games by now.

If you are downplaying the Cards' wins, you have to be fair and say the exact same things about the Eagles.
I'm certainly not. They just thumped Indy. That's impressive. The situation though seems to benefit us. Off the bye for the Eagles, coming east to play at 11am Az time, could have a letdown after a big emotionally win at home for Az, their blitzing style plays right into our offenses strengths. Just a lot to like about. No way is this a cake walk though.

I see 34-24 Eagles.

Colts are another over hyped team because of their QB. They are a middle of the pack team in almost every single offensive category and their defense ranks even worse.

Edit: The Golden Boy has exactly two games with 300+ passing yards, 7 games under 250 yards, & 3 games under 200.

I didnt mean to come off like I was downplaying their wins earlier. You just hear people say how great they've looked and when you gloss over their winning streak it isnt what they make it out to be. Or maybe I'm splitting hairs and theyre not overhyping it as much as I think they are...

Not sure I see us putting up 34 points. We are 3.5 favourites... I'm gonna go with 27-20.

I'm of the mind that if this offense is clicking, it can't be stopped by any defense.

Yea I don't see how blitzing too much will be a productive for the cards with our screen passes and run blocking schemes. Even Celek is getting 40 yard plays in the screen game. The Eagles offense is on a "pick your poisen" level until I see otherwise.

I've actually been impressed by Mendy lately. I thinks that's a fair split.

I'm just excited to see Foles vs a decent defense finally.

I have to agree.

I also don't know about the whole east to west thing. It didn't seem to affect the Chargers.

Here is a a quick table I could find, which I'm sure is far from definitive. The reality is that these teams are not that different between east coast vs. non-east coast, when you consider that the 49ers and Raiders were terrible overall during this time period. I would like to look into this more and would welcome other stats proving the connection.

http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcwest/post/_/id/38404/west-coast-teams-uphill-fight-with-nfledit: ok, I suck with tables.

The possibility Foles jumps on Ari ### right out of the gate leaving Carson Palmer to win the game ala 2013 RG3. I think you're right. Something bad should happen to Ari in our favor.

MAAAAn detroits D is good. That's gonna be a fun game next week, praying for snow in philly haha
They're really not that good. GB's offense right now will make any defense look great.
That's my thought too. GB is terrible right now
Not sure how they don't look good. Even against an offense that isn't clicking, you hold any nfl team to 50 total yards in the first 3 quarters of the game and that's a good game. Not to mention all the sacks, the safey, the coverage down field has been great, and the Run D has been beastly. Even if Flynn is bad, lacy is a good back and has been totally shut down.

Still a top 3 rushing D in the league and their pass D has looked much improved as of late.

I think the Eagles lose this week but then win the next 3. That might be enough to make the Dallas game irrelevant
Detroit is going to be tougher then arizona. especially with their 10 days rest.
Honestly Arizona's defense is MUCH better than Detroit. The Eagles will move up and down the field against the Lions. Foles will feel some heat this week. Yes Detroit has an explosive offense but the Cards also have Fitzgerald, who is still a matchup nightmare for most corners

FTR, I'm not seeing much evidence of this. Here are the records of the 5 West Coast teams for all road games and road games played as 1 Eastern time from 1993-2012.

AZ and SD are virtually the same. SFO and OAK are actually better on the east coast. Seattle is worse on the east coast, but not measurably so.

All 1 Eastern

AZ .270 .263

OAK .346 .388

SDG .437 .438

SEA .408 .375

SFO .359 .425

Total .357 .378

I will eat my crow with respect to Foles. Wasn't a believer but he has certainly exceeded expectations and then some. Makes not starting him to begin the year that much more egregious. I'm sure I might still draw some flak with saying that I'm not ready to necessarily hand the keys of the franchise over as some here or on WIP seem so willing to do. I'm still in a wait and see approach mainly because he is under contract for 2 more years and I'm expecting some growing pains. That said, no reason to draft a QB in the 1st or even in the following few rounds. Should make this team better being able to use those picks on other positions.

I still think the receiving corps is fine. Ertz is looking more impressive. Cooper is still putting up good numbers. Like I said, if someone falls into their laps, go for it but I don't think WR is necessarily a huge need. Like Chip finding a mismatch and just exploiting the hell out of it.

Now the one thing I didn't like is Chip sitting on the lead. I know they milked the clock away against GB but they have to do a better job stepping on the other team when their down.

Draft a corner /safety /pass rusher and sign Decker.
