*** 2013 Official Philadelphia Eagles - NFC EAST CHAMPS*** (1 Viewer)

One game. Let's focus on NO - they are no cakewalk.
:goodposting:
I totally agree but its fun to look ahead. I feel zero stress about this game at all actually. Not in a way that we win but due to us actually being here when I had 6-10/8-8 expectations. If we get destroyed then OK, I can handle this lose if we lose to a HOF QB like Brees.
No chance the Eagles get destroyed. On another note, I haven't listened to sports talk in a while so does anyone know if Mikey Miss has changed his tune on Nick Foles?

Couple weeks ago he backed off of his can't start stance. He's not a full beliver but he understands he's the starter going forward.

Just got a call from the best friend/neighbor that a guy could ask for with an extra ticket to the game Saturday night.

I'm in full hype mode now. I haven't been to one since the Falcons' NFC game and I hope its just as cold and the outcome the same.

Liked him this year but Bills kept him. Depends on the price but safety is a top priority.
Safety

Stud OLB in the DeMarcus Ware mold (yea, they don't grow on trees, I know).

WR

these would be my top 3 priorities. Still a fan of going BPA in the draft, but would love to see these addressed.

Got a text yesterday, a friend had an extra ticket. Never been to a playoff game, can't wait!!

Watch a few shows tonight and all of the "experts" say that it isn't the cold that hinders the Saints, but rather the crowd noise. I plan on losing my voice by the end of the game.

Enjoy the game.

This makes sense because they struggle outdoors and in other domes (Atl, StL, etc) Amazing that they have not done anything to rectify this considering it has bee going on for years.

I hope the Linc is rocking Saturday night.

It should be but a high end pass rusher would be huge. With that everything would fall into place.

This WR class appears to be very strong, so if someone falls a little, I'd have no problem grabbing a receiver. But I think OLB, CB, and S are the biggest needs for this team.

Pass rush = DB's IMHO

Desean is on the books for 12m. He has to restructure or we cut him for a 6m cap hit.

RC and Maclin are FA

Avant is not worth 4m for the last year of his deal. You can cut him for 75k

1 or 2 of them will restructure or resign but that puts us in the WR market. Maybe the answer isn't in the draft. Personally I would like to see us get Nicks. We might as well make a "Harvin to Sea" move now while Foles is still operating under a cheap rookie contract over the next 2 seasons.

I don't know, DJax was doing very well in this offense. I can see a restructure, but I doubt we cut him. Avant is gone, though,.

He's not worth 12m
He's not worth a $6mil cap hit either. They'll talk restructure but I wouldn't budge if I was him.
He walks and you get someone cheap and underrated that will fill in like Andre Roberts + draft picks for 6m. Easy game.
You and I see desean differently. I think he can be a 75/1200 guy with every year. While he may not be worth $12mil, he's better than what we'll find out there. I don't think Howie is as rigid as Banner. $6mil cap hit and loss of a huge playmaker outweighs paying him $12mil with $19mil cap space with his salary factored in.

I am not the biggest Jackson supporter, as I think he is not a true #1. But you can't honestly think that a mediocre talent (Roberts, etc) could come in and perform the way he did. He has greatly improved his versatility this year, & I think has become a more well-rounded receiver.

On top of that, is he really the one you want to target to save money? If you really want to find money, here are a few I would start with..

T Cole - $6.6

C Williams- $6.4

Celek- $4.1

Avant- $4

J Casey- $4

Chung- $3.2

But I like what they did in free agency last year, & not spending big on one or two guys and leaving scrubs in other positions.

Not me, I want no part of Nicks. Always hurt and really has only had 1 good season 3 years ago. Just doesn't seem like a "team" player to me.

Ones 30 and ones 27.

As far as Desean is concerned, what if Dat Thomas comes out? Could you see Chip getting him? Would it make sense to have two receivers that size?
I think they're different players. DAT is a RB who can play some receiver. I think you need to draft him as a weapon who gets 7-12 touches a game and can line up everywhere. I love watching him play but his size is a concern. Will be interesting if he declares. Had an ankle injury this year and didn't have the season I thought he would. Played a lot of RB the first few games, which was odd. I assume it was because they didn't have any other experienced RB's at the time and only trusted him. I think Marqise Lee (USC), Paul Richardson (COL), and Brandin Cooks (OSU) are all interesting Pac-12 guys that Chip could target.

IMO, its crazy to talk about getting rid of DeSean. He opens up a lot for the other WR.

Draft wise, I'd look hard at pretty much all the positions at defense, especially, DB.

According to my search it is 10.25 in 2014, 9.75 in 2015 and 8.5 in 2016. That is market value. He will be getting 250k for 1300 yards receiving but that is guaranteed. Maybe they restructure, but it would just mean more guaranteed money. He is not taking a paycut.

Well this isn't the 1st or last time none of you will agree with me. You can replace Desean Jackson. It's not like I'm talking about Calvin Johnson. Most of the smart teams in the league are gearing towards not paying big bucks to skill positions anymore. As long as we have Foles-Kelly a small WR will be a dime a dozen. No need to overpay. None of our wr have much leverage.

I agree about the leverage but I was taking a "if it ain't broke"'approach with Jackson. If we have the money there's not need to make it an issue.

It's early as we have the playoffs still left, but I would like to see the Eagles let cooper go to free agency, sign maclin to a two year contract and sign d bowe to give us the size we need in the red zone.

I also would go after orakpo to replace t cole.

Draft best player available. Hopefully, a good safety falls to us.

So Desean can holdout for more money in the past, but you can see if he'd restructure to make room for a true #1 WR when you have all the leverage? We must all be high.

The cap hit would be 6m now or pay him 34.5m over 3 seasons. Who else are you signing to start opposite of DJax? Coop and Maclin are FA. Avant is on the books for 4m, or you can take a 75k cap hit now cutting him.

I'm sure 1-2 of these guys will stay one way or another, but we still need a WR no matter how you slice it. That's why I asked awhile ago what would you do with Maclin. Now that I looked at it further what do you do with all of these guys? You can't hand them all free candy to keep them happy.

I was talking about the WR as a whole and exploring all options. But supposedly we should build a statue for DJax and I'm stupid for thinking otherwise. I wasn't trying to take it there. I'm done actually.

I see the plan being asking Desean to restructure, signing Cooper to a friendly deal, considering what happened this year, I bet we get a bargain for his production. Don't forget he is a very good run blocker and the run is what truly makes this offense go. We prob offer a small deal to Maclin but my guess is he gets a better deal and walks. There are a lot of quality FA Wrs this year so I expect us to flirt with a few and maybe sign one. From there they probably draft one in the 1st 3 rounds. Ertz I believe will play a more prominent role next year so I see as whoever that other guy may be as option #5 behind him, Cooper, Shady and DJax. As long as Foles improves and they get the system more, year 2 could be even better.

DJax just got paid and finally provided a season that justified the amount. There's about zero chance they mess with him right now. If he had a mediocre year sure but he just had his best statistical season ever with Kelly as his coach. I can't see Kelly signing off on messing with DJax. Don't rock the boat.

No idea where this is coming from. Who's building a statue for him? He just got 1332 yards and 9 tds. That's #1 production. So what if we're overpaying him now. We underpaid him the first few years of his career. It all evens out. We got the cap space. As long as he produces, they aren't going to mess with him. How would it look if you came to Shady right now and asked him to restructure after having the best year of his career? That would be the same as Desean.

I'm not sure what the FA crop at WR looks like, but if there a lot of them this year wouldn't that hurt Maclin's chances of getting a decent deal somewhere else? Either way I'd prefer to keep DJax and upgrading the other side. Maclin is an upgrade over Cooper IF healthy, but if there are better options I hope they explore them.

I'd be pretty damn happy with Desean, Maclin and Cooper. Let avant walk.
