Might as well kick this off for Day 2.

Stricker and Bubba making early moves.

Would love to see Westy and Stricker in it til the end.

Anyone but Bubba. What a tool box.

Rory wins this baby.
Think about what a giant dooshbag you have to be on a consistent basis to have everyone hate you even though your name is Bubba and you bought the General Lee and you use a pink driver that you hit a mile with crazy movement and you cried when you won the Masters on an amazing shot out of the woods. That's a lot of fan-friendly stuff. And yet here we are.

Love to see Lee Westwood get a major. Seems like a very classy guy and from other golfers they respect him quite a bit. :towelwave:

Poulter is a good follow on twitter. He was complaining this morning that his nanny got bumped from first class to coach on a British Airways flight and his wife had to take care of the kids by herself. He was taking some heat for complaining.

I'd like to see Spieth make a run too.

Bubba just balmes his caddie for bad shot. "Water on the club face bro, water on the club face. I've got no chance".

What a loser.

I really like what he does. He knows he's gonna get a lot of crap for it but he does it because he wants to be fan-friendly and let people see what it's like to be him, both the awesome stuff (most of it) and the annoying stuff. His twitter presence has made me a fan.

Besides his IJP Designs retweets...

What has Bubba done?
Just this week he's yelled at his caddy after missing the green- complained there was water on the club face. Apparently he's been yelling at his caddy all week. He bailed out of the long drive challenge (one drive, during practice round, and he's the guy people want to see- apparently he hit iron off the tee just to be an ###hole). He asked his caddy not to give the TV people clubs and yardages, a pretty common fan-friendly courtesy that everyone else does. Apparently he's also been getting on fans for being too close, too. I think there was something else during the practice rounds too, can't remember what it was.

Isn't Poulter out of the same mold? I don't have a beef with either guy, but Poulter isn't the most quiet guy on the course either from what I see.

So is Bubba the new Tiger in the clubhouse?

Seems like most of the guys can't stand Tiger either
The golf media guys I read and follow on Twitter seem mostly OK with Tiger. They don't particularly like him, but they get that his life is different than most bc everything he says and does is blown out of proportion so some of them give him a partial pass at least. They HATE Bubba.

Poulter's the exact opposite, as far as I can tell. He and Rickie Fowler are the most fan-friendly guys I've seen. He gets fired up/frustrated but that's a totally different thing.

This McIlroy kid is pretty good.
His best is every bit as good as anyone ever's best. Tiger will always be the most "clutch", but Rory's game has set a new bar IMO.
Were you not alive in 2000?
No. I was. I think Rory's game today tee to green is that good. Hits it farther and straighter. Tiger was eons better than everyone else in 2000 but I don't think his 2000 game was better than what we are watching from Rory right now. The kid is a machine. Just my opinion.

From what I read many people are put off by Poulter because of his "complaining attitude", loud out-bursts on the course, and his god-awful clothing choices. Just a quick Google search of "Poulter disliked" and your going to get plenty of articles. Which was the tournament where he called out the groundskeepers and asked them to put a clown windmill on the green. Seems similar to a comment that Bubba would say.

Again, I have no issues with him, I just view him and Bubba in very similar molds. But to each his own.

I understand the thought...but does anyone care about the Ceiling of a golfer?

It's all about being consistently great...Rory's got a long way to go to get there.

Yep. Long way to go but he's on his way.

You want to talk about a "fear factor" as of right now (or at least the past 4 months), and Rory has it.

Fun to watch. Would love to see a Tiger v. Rory show down on the final day of a major next year. Would be awesome IMO.

Steve Stricker making a charge.

Any chance that Watson goes completely off the board and makes him a captain's pick given how many young guys are on squad?

I agree. But this show he is putting on is amazing. He has legit looks at birdie and is either making them or burning the edge on every hole. Clinical display.

The thing I and lots of other people hate about Bubba is that he yells at his caddy and seems to have an anti-fan attitude (long drive dooshbaggery, the club/yardage thing, etc.). Poulter doesn't do any of that. He's emotional, but in a totally different way. And the comments about the clown windmill and other stuff like that are funny, he's just giving fans insight into what the players are thinking and talking about. Again, I like that he does that.

Anyone who complains about how a golfer dresses is being get-off-my-lawn ridiculous.

He's awesome. Just what the doctor ordered for professional golf, perfect timing.

It's fun to watch a (potential) all-timer 'on'. One of the reasons I was so drawn to Tiger at the beginning.

Was speaking to more of how Tiger is in his personal life that most hate and let's be totally fair because he is a giant ######## but from everything I've read and heard they seem to like him on the course and tolerate him. They really should be thanking him every chance they can because of all he has done for the sport so jealousy clearly could be part of it.

Rory had a “disappointing” birdie on Par 5 7th. Drive left him 241 out. Second shot over water he went right at the pin and left himself less than 10 feet.

Missed the eagle putt

Woods misses a kick in 5 footer.
I don't know about a "kick in" 5 footer. Pros miss those more than people think.

Take it from someone who closely tracked Justin Rose for gambling purposes yesterday. He missed like four putts from that range.or closer. At least two that were listed as 4 footers on shottrack. I think he was close to dead last in the field in strokes gained putting. :wall:

That was a straight in putt. Just missed another short one. He is awful right now. Shut. It. Down. Come back next year.

I didn't see the putts but I agree, no idea why he's there. I guess there's some aspect of greatness that requires self-delusion? He's not gaining anything by playing right now, unless he's having cash flow issues and wants to sneak his way into the FedEx cup and hope his game straightens out by then.

According to reports Foley and Tiger both claim he's striping it in practice. I don't doubt this having watched his range sessions a bit this week. That would explain why he's trying to play. But his swing is pretty bad right now on the course.

They make more than you think.
In farimess, that stat includes 2" putts as well as 5' putts.
Here is just 5' putts.
That's awesome, I didn't know there was a page like that.

When you watch they sometimes give your average for putts of a certain distance and it's always lower than I expect. Never would have guessed that tour pros miss more than half their 10 foot putts.

It is actually painful watching this feature group play. Mickleson looks almost as bad as Tiger. The times, they are a changin...
