Current odds have Froome as the favorite, followed by Quintana, Alberto, and Niboli. Surprised by Alberto's odds - I think he wins this.

I think the consensus is Froime is better rested and Alberto "faded" at the end of the Giro. In any case I expect all 3 doping teams (Sky, Astana, Saxo-tinkoff) to come in doped to the gills so who the hell knows what really happens. I tend to think Astana is the best doped team while Alberto is the best doped rider. I think they end up shredding Sky like they did in the Giro.

 
Anyone ever used the road.cc site? I got roped into doing this at work, here is the scoring setup, and the team I selected with a salary cap of 170. Any thoughts are appreciated. I ended up with 4 domestiques but I'm not sure if people usually end up with that many.

This stage will be scored on the following criteria:

Finish line: Points awarded for the first 20 riders over the line in a race or stage.

Multi-stage tours (inc individual TT): 35, 30, 25, 22, 20, 18, 16, 14, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 points for the first 20 finishers.

Team time trials: 20, 18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 points for each participating member of the first 10 teams

One-day races: 50, 40, 30, 25, 20, 18, 16, 14, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 points for the first 20 finishers. Intermediate sprints (stage): Points awarded for position in an intermediate sprint competiton. Unless otherwise stated: 6, 4, 2 points for first three riders in each sprint. Mountains competition (stage): Points awarded for points accrued in the climber's classification. Does not include mountaintop stage finishes. Unless otherwise stated, the number of scoring riders on a climb is the number of points scored. So if 5 riders score, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 points will be awarded. GC (Tour): Points awarded for a top ten position in the GC of a Tour at the end of a stage. 10 points for first down to 1 point for 10th Points jersey (Tour): Points awarded for overall standing in the points competition at the end of a stage. 5 points for first position down to 1 point for 5th Mountains jersey (Tour): Points awarded for overall standing in the mountains competition at the end of a stage. 5 points for first position down to 1 point for 5th Young rider jersey (Tour): Points awarded for overall standing in the young rider competition at the end of a stage. 5 points for first position down to 1 point for 5th Most combative rider: 10 points awarded to the rider adjuged the most combative by the race commissaires

This is tougher than in years past. I'm having trouble finding good $10 guys. I mean, they're there, I'm just having trouble finding them.

 
How many $4 guys do you end up with? Not sure if it is better to be top heavy or more balanced.
Just one. Really if you hit on the all arounder who wins you're in the hunt. I don't think the 4-8 dollar guys really tip the scales much.

 
I'm just taking the guys I know are doping....otherwise known as the AstaTinkoSky strategy...heavier on the AstaTinko since Sky craps the bed in Classic type stages.

Who has a good smartphone TDF app? Live commentary, standings and team rosters are the main things in interested in.

 
I don't see why everyone picked Contador. The Giro/Tour double is *really* hard, especially when going up against competition like he's got. I think Quintana is the guy to beat.

I went top heavy. Took Froome, Quintana, Nibali, Moreno, Degenkolb, Vanmarke, and 3 4 point guys

I thought it was harder this year than in years past, which is why I took the 3 favorites I like the best and filled in from there. Figure I probably won't win since the person who wins is the one who takes the mid priced guys who do well on top of the expensive guys, but I'll probably do ok.

I like Bass's team. Surprised that so few people took Froome, since just about everyone took him last year. The course this year definitely hurts him compared to quintana, but it seems like 3/4 of us have quintana. Originally I just wanted those two, but Nibali was only a few bucks more expensive than the 2nd tier guys.

I really wanted Bardet and Kristoff, but couldn't figure out a way to make it make sense.
