2015 Rock and Roll HOF Nominees (1 Viewer)

I didn't vote for NIN simply because I don't consider it rock.
Goes back to the same argument we've had for years as to what constitutes rock and roll. The one credit that the HOF gets is that they define rock as much broader than what typically is segmented by historical radio play.

Here's the whole list of inductees - crosses a lot of genres.

oh, I get it. I just can't vote for it. same reason I wouldn't vote for NWA.

No Fresh Prince?

The whole idea of a RnR HoF is dumb anyway...
Why? What makes a Football or Baseball HOF legit but not RnR? the Country Music HOF in Nashville is pretty cool.

I have no problem with having a RnR museum and in fact think that part of it is very cool. But the idea that one act deserves to be enshrined over another is absurd, especially considering some of the acts that have been ignored vs some of the acts that have been inducted.

At least with sports there are at least some measurables that you can use to weigh one player over another.

I might literally #### myself if NIN and Green Day get in before The Cure.

Especially NIN. Really? First album was a solid alternative album but nothing historic. 2nd album was huge with the frat/sorority crowd because of Closer, and a couple of other nominal alterna-hits. After that, basically nothing of note

I hate how every discussion of any Hall of Fame turns into complaints about who's out rather than honoring those who are in.

Lou Reed

Kraftwerk

The Smiths
I would agree with these three when you consider influence. Obviously record sales are not going to be a factor here.
I'm a Smiths fan... but I think Stevie-Ray goes in front of them. Otherwise, the same list as mine. I'm not a fan or non-fan, but Green Day will be there too, soon.
I don't think SRV was around long enough to get in there, but the HOF criteria is obviously wacky and inconsistent.

True about Green Day.
The Smiths: 1982-1987

SRV: 1978-1990

This seems to be the only time the HOF gets mentioned all year, the yearly debates of who's nominated, who's not etc...

I could care less.

The whole thing is nonsense.

I hope you don't.

Well I got the runs today. As long as the inductions are a few weeks out I should be ok.

And here is who gets in(as if anybody cares)

Green Day; Bill Withers; Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble; Lou Reed; Joan Jett and the Blackhearts; and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band will all be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next spring.

Those six performers were selected from a list of 15 nominees, which also included acts like N.W.A., Nine Inch Nails, Sting, The Smiths and Chic.

somebody upthread could literally care less.

hope Kraftwerk gets in there some day, but can't argue with the list.

I should, in the interest of full disclosure, admit that I saw Green Day once at the Bridge School Benefit and was a little surprised. It was right when the Time of Your Life thing was. They weren't bad.
