Once Harper tweaks all the moving parts in his swing, he's going to have a year like he did in 2015 every year.
I'm not sure if it'd be more fitting and frustrating to have the Cubs choke away a series in the next two rounds, or to do it now and have the Giants go on to win the whole thing.
Simmons back to playing in the NL?I probably watch 10-12 Giants game a year and somehow the best defensive SS in the game finds a way to butcher something in just about every one of them.
I think Cubs fans know better than to reach for a ball that has a chance of being caught in the playoffs. The Asian guy just sat there with his glove - you gotta reach for that - no way they would overturn it. He was wearing a blue jacket - so maybe a Cub fan
Wrong answer. Outside of a tie breaker, baseball shouldn't be decided by a one game series. The last few years have seen teams that were 4-6 games better over the course of a season eliminated prematurely. They could always just win the division instead
So what would you propose?Wrong answer. Outside of a tie breaker, baseball shouldn't be decided by a one game series. The last few years have seen teams that were 4-6 games better over the course of a season eliminated prematurely.
The one game playoff was a special rarity. Now we've made it routine..

There was nothing wrong with a single wild card from each league. The best overall record of 12 non-division winners. So what would you propose?
Sure. Just curious. Thought maybe you'd take us back to two divisions, or like Dentist, bring us back to a round robin regular season. There was nothing wrong with a single wild card from each league. The best overall record of 12 non-division winners.
For that matter, there was nothing wrong with NFL overtime rules either. Change isn't always for the better (see moving touchbacks to the 25 yard line)
Not really. It can completely remove the drama from the last days of the season. It's awesome, thanks for playing.![]()
How did it remove the drama? The AL wild card came down to the last weekend. Toronto had to use their best pitcher in game 162 to get home field advantage. They had to win game 161 to clinch a spot in the wild card game. Having two spots adds drama by keeping the Houston, Seattle, New York etc... close in the race late, but in the end it still puts a lot of value on winning the division since the one game play in is such a crap shoot. It adds drama to the end of the regular season without devaluing winning a division or making the MLB playoffs a joke like NHL/NBA where so many marginal teams (more than half the league) make it.Not really. It can completely remove the drama from the last days of the season.
But hey, if you like a fabricated one-game playoff, for excitement over the merit of an entire season, you're not the baseball fan I thought you were.
I don't understand your argument. The merit of the whole season is not in question, you are adding a wildcard team to the mix after years of watching the lone wildcard team blaze through the first round knocking out the top team. With the additional wildcard spot, you take out the #1 pitcher from wildcard team who advances thus giving a real advantage to the the #1 seed. Also the last days of the season are exponentially more dramatic, I don't understand your argument at all. You had three teams competing for two spots in both leagues this year that came down to the last day. On Friday there were as many as four other teams that were still not eliminated. Not really. It can completely remove the drama from the last days of the season.
